Scottie Volleyball Improves to 5-1 in Conference

The Glasgow volleyball squad improved their conference record to 5-1 with a win over Poplar Oct. 13. They dropped a non-conference match to Sidney Oct. 15, taking their overall record to 7-4.

The Scotties downed the Indians in three sets, 25-16, 25-14, 25-15 in front of a home crowd for Pink Night. Glasgow put up 21 aces, 28 kills, 18 assists, five blocks and 28 digs in the win. Poplar notched seven aces, 10 kills, 25 assists, 12 blocks and 45 digs.

Daley Aune led the Scotties in aces with 13 and assists with 17. Tatum Nyquist had 10 of the team's kills while Piper Johnson stopped three of Poplar's shots. Sammy Tryan and Carly Nelson led in digs with eight each.

In sub-varsity action, both the C squad and JV teams won their matches. The C squad won in four sets, 28-26, 23-25, 15-5, 15-3 while JV won in three, 25-19, 25-13, 15-12.

Glasgow hosted the Class A Sidney Eagles Saturday. The Scotties took the match to five sets but dropped the match 24-26, 25-9, 22-25, 25-21, 11-15. The team had 23 aces, 36 kills, 27 assists, 10 blocks and 68 digs in the five games.

Nyquist led in aces with seven while Nelson led in kills with 13. Aune had 22 of the team's assists and 18 of their digs. Ava Lloyd led in blocks with six.

The JV team won their match in three sets, 26-24, 25-19, 15-9 while the C Squad lost in five, 16-25, 22-25, 15-9, 15-8, 8-15.

The C Squad attended the Sidney Sub-Varsity Tournament Oct. 14. While the team did not bring home any wins, they used the event to try new approaches, moving players into different positions and trying new servers.

Glasgow closes out their regular season this week. Tonight, Oct. 19, the Scotties will be in Malta to take on the M-ettes for C, JV and Varsity action beginning at 4 p.m. They host the Wolf Point Wolves Thursday, Oct. 20, for Senior Night. C Squad, JV and Varsity action will begin at 3 p.m. Seniors will be recognized between the JV and varsity matches. Games will be carried on NFHS.
