Scottie Volleyball Defeats Sidney, Fairview

Improve to 5-3 Overall

Glasgow's volleyball improved their record to 5-3 overall with two road wins in Richland County this past week. The Scotties downed the Class A Sidney Eagles in four sets Sept. 29 and followed that Sept. 30 with another four-set win over the Fairview Warriors, avenging an earlier season loss.

Glasgow defeated Sidney 25-22, 25-17, 21-25, 25-13. They put up nine aces, 33 kills, 28 assists, 18 blocks and 76 digs.

Tatum Nyquist and Joely Chappell led the Scotties in aces with three each. Carly Nelson led in kills with 13 and Piper Johnson had eight blocks. Daley Aune led in both assists and digs with 19 and 20, respectively.

Glasgow's C squad won their match in five sets, 3-2. The scores were 19-25, 25-22, 11-15, 15-11, 15-11. The Scottie JV team also won, defeating the Eagles 25-23, 25-23, 15-12.

The Scotties followed that win with a 14-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-18 win Friday over the Warriors to even the season record between the two teams.

Glasgow led in all stats categories except blocks, where both teams registered 11 stops. The Scotties had 10 aces to Fairview's eight, 38 kills to 30, 35 assists to 27 and 66 digs to 18.

Aune had five aces and 29 assists in leading the Scotties to their win. Nelson notched 15 kills while Ava Lloyd led in blocks with seven. Samantha Tryan had 23 digs for Glasgow.

The Scottie JV team lost their match in three sets but showed lots of improvement in their play.

Glasgow hosts their homecoming match this Saturday, Oct. 8, against the Harlem Wildcats with C squad, JV and varsity action. The first match begins at 1 p.m., with a 20 minute break between matches. The Saskatoon Police Pipe & Drums and Dancers will perform between the JV and varsity matches.
