Glasgow Volleyball Splits Weekend Matches

Glasgow's volleyball team hosted their team opener Sept. 9 against Hi-Line rivals the Malta M-ettes. The Scotties dropped their match in four sets, 25-13, 22-25, 16-25, 22-25. They rebounded Sept. 10 with a sweep in Harlem, 25-13, 25-8, 25-15.

The Scotties started strong at home with a decisive first game victory but as small mistakes piled up, they found themselves on the wrong side of the final decision.

Glasgow racked up 10 aces in the match, led by Daley Aune with six. Aune also led in assists, accumulating 13 of the team's 14, with her on-point setting skills. Tatum Nyquist put up nine of the team's 19 kills while Ava Lloyd blocked four of the M-ettes' scoring attempts. The Scotties had 10 blocks in the match. Carly Nelson and Samantha Tryan led Glasgow in digs with 14 each, netting 28 of Glasgow's 34 digs.

The Scottie JV squad also lost their match in three sets, 19-25, 16-25, 12-15.

Glasgow's C squad won their match in five sets, waging a comeback after losing the first two. The Scotties took the match by scores of 19-25, 15-25, 15-9, 15-9, 15-13.

Saturday in Harlem, the Scotties made quick work of the Wildcats, winning the match in three sets.

Aune and Nyquist led the team in aces with two each while Macy Martin added one. Piper Johnson led in kills with six followed by Nelson and Lloyd with four each. Nyquist had two kills while Aune and Tryan added one a piece.

Aune again led in assists with 10, followed by Martin with two and Tryan with one. Johnson and Lloyd each had four blocks and Aune stopped two shots. Tryan hit double digits in digs, registering 10 followed by Nyquist with six. Nelson and Aune added five a piece while Martin added two and Johnson one.

Glasgow's JV team fell in three sets, 7-25, 20-25, 13-15, while the C squad swept their match, 25-15, 25-15, 15-12.

The Scotties host the Fairview Warriors Thursday, Sept. 15 for JV and varsity action with the first game scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, they travel to Plentywood with JV slated to begin at 2:45 p.m. Glasgow travels to Poplar on Saturday, Sept. 17 for three matches with C squad beginning at 1 p.m.
