Valley County Sheriff's Office Investigating Incident in Fort Peck

On Sept. 1, at approximately 11:43 p.m., the Valley County Dispatch Center received a report of an explosion and subsequent fire in the area of the Fort Peck Marina. Deputies and the Fort Peck Fire Department were able to quickly get the fire under control and no one was injured in the blast but a camper and boat did sustain damage.

While investigating the area, deputies found a camper had been broken into as well as the cause of the blast was a propane tank being thrown onto an active fire pit.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
