Glasgow's volleyball squad began their season in the traditional way – at the Choteau Invitational. The Scotties finished with a 3-9 record at the Invite which did not reflect their performance. "They did amazing," said new head coach Brooke Martin.
Martin highlighted that eight of the 12 matches the Scotties saw were against state finalists from last year: teams that are likely to repeat their trip. The Scotties held their own in the matches with final scores staying within a three-point spread.
The Scotties first faced host team Choteau, who won 21-20, 21-18. Glasgow then defeated Florence Carlton 21-20, 21-16 and Cut Bank 21-11, 20-21. They fell to Three Forks 14-21, 21-13 to close out round one.
They started round two with a loss to Broadwater 21-16, 21-14. Glasgow took Bigfork to three sets but fell 17-21, 21-16, 3-1. Against Choteau again, Glasgow kept it close but came up just short with a final 20-21, 21-19 match. In another tight match, Glasgow found themselves on the wrong side of a 19-21, 21-16 match against Manhattan Christian.
Moving into the bracketed play of round three, Glasgow again faced Manhattan Christian. The Scotties dropped the match 21-12, 21-18. They rebounded to down Fairfield 21-12, 19-21. Glasgow dropped a tight match to Simms, 21-18, 21-20 before losing their final match against Florence Carlton 21-16, 21-10.
