Norm and Kim Girard tackle clean-up along Highway 2 on April 29.
The 37th Annual North/East Top Ten Track Meet was renamed earlier this year to honor one of the founders - and loyal workers - Norm Girard. Girard helped create the highly competitive meet in 1983, which has since grown to the largest of its kind in the region. The annual track invitational will now be called the Norm Girard North/East Top 10 Meet. Above is the man of the hour working - and coaching when necessary - the long jump. Kim Girard stands in the background to record jumps along with Scottie jump coach Patrick Menge.
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Norm and Kim Girard have been longtime residents of Glasgow; and
WHEREAS, they have logged countless hours cleaning the streets and sidewalks of Glasgow; and
WHEREAS, they have volunteered at the Valley Event Center teaching skating and sharpening skates; and
WHEREAS, they have volunteered at hundreds of track meets and other community events; and
WHEREAS, Norm has mowed hundreds of yards, shoveled miles of sidewalks, and assisted with countless number of projects around Glasgow.
NOW, THEREFORE, I Rod Karst, Mayor of the City of Glasgow, MT, proclaim August 24, 2022 to be Norm and Kim Girard Appreciation Day in Glasgow.
