Unified Scobey-Opheim Spartans Track

Opheim is sending four athletes to the State Class C meet in Great Falls this weekend as the Unified Scobey-Opheim girls' team won the Eastern C Divisional meet and the boys' team placed third.

Opheim's Carrie Taylor and Mandy Fuhrmann helped power the Spartans to their 93-point first place finish.

Fuhrmann set a personal best and finished in sixth place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.60. She tied for sixth place in the high jump after clearing 4-08.00. Fuhrmann also competed in the long jump with a 12-09.00 jump and 11th place.

Taylor placed fourth in javelin with a 112-11 throw. She just missed the podium in the discus, finishing in seventh place with a season record 89-11 throw. Taylor placed 10th in shot put with a 28-11.00 throw.

Cole Taylor, Bo Anderson and James Landles competed for the Spartan boys with Taylor and Anderson moving on to the State meet.

Anderson will compete in the triple jump after taking fourth place at the Eastern C Divisional meet with a 38-04.50 leap. He took eighth in long jump with a 17-02.00 jump.

Taylor will competed in the 800 meters and 4x400 relay for the Spartans at the final meet of the season. He took fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:21.91. He ran the second leg of the relay which finished in third with a time of 3:47.36. Taylor took seventh in the 1600 meters with a season record 5:20.38 and seventh in javelin with a season best 123-00 throw.

Landles just missed a trip to state in the 110 meter hurdles with a seventh place finish and a personal best time of 20.32. He ran the 300 meter hurdles in 51.78 and took eighth place. He finished ninth in the 400 meters after running a 1:02.17.

The Class C State Track meet will be held at Memorial Stadium in Great Falls Thursday through Saturday, May 26-28.
