The Glasgow VFW Post 3107 honored two Valley County students in recognition of excellence in the Voices of Democracy Essay Competition. Kate Parks, of Glasgow High School, and Cienna Stromman, of Hinsdale, were both designated as outstanding spokesperson for freedom and received $100.
Conducted nationwide, the VFW-sponsored Voice of Democracy is an annual speech contest in which students write and record a speech and send in the recording to be judged by members of the VFW. This year's theme for the contest was "America: Where do we go from here?"
