Scottie Boys Win Final Two Regular Season Meets

The Scottie boys golf team took two big wins in their final two regular season meets. The boys won the Poplar Invite in Wolf Point Thursday with 340 points, taking the top three slots. Glasgow won their home meet at Sunnyside on Friday with a score of 335, taking the top four spots.

In girls' action, Elle Stone placed seventh at the Poplar Invite with a score of 112. She split her score evenly with a 56 on both the front and back nine.

Kylie Lagerquist shot a 121 at the Glasgow Invite for third place. She shot a 65 on the front nine and improved to 56 on the bak nine. Stone took fourth just a stroke behind Lager at 122. She shot a 62 on the front followed by a 60 on the back nine.

The Glasgow boys won the Poplar Invite, scoring 340, which put them ahead of Baker with 376, Harlem 407, and Poplar 416.

Riley Smith led the way for Glasgow with a score of 81. He shot a 39 on the front nine and 42 on the back nine. Keigan Ingram claimed second place after shooting an 83, with a 37 on the front nine and 46 on the back nine. Eli Feezell took third with an 87, improving from a 44 on the front nine to a 43 on the back nine.

Rance Rhoads shot an 89, 44 on the front and 45 on the back, for eighth place. Carter Hoerster, on Glasgow's JV squad, just missed the top ten, finishing in 11th place with a 96. He improved 14 strokes, from a 55 on the front nine to a 41 on the back. Connor Koski took 14th place after shooting a 48 on the front and a 50 on the back nine for a 98. Sam Knierim, playing on the JV team, took 19th place with a 101, 50 on the front and 51 on the back.

The Scotties absolutely dominated on their home course Friday, beating out their nearest competition by 115 points. Glasgow scored 335, followed by Wolf Point with 450, Poplar 458 and Malta 532.

Glasgow took the top four slots with Smith in first, Feezell in second, Ingram in third and Rhoads in fourth. Koski placed sixth.

Smith shot a 41 on the front nine and improved to a 37 on the back nine for a score of 78. Feezell shot an 83, improving from a 44 on the front to a 39 on the back nine.

Ingram's 85 came from a 44 on the front and a better 41 on the back nine. Rhoads shot a 45 on the front nine with a one-stroke improvement on the back for an 89. Koski shot a 47 and a 49 for a score of 96 on 18 holes.

Hoerster led the JV team with a score of 96, 50 on the front improving to 46 on the back nine. Knierim shot a 49 and a 54 for a 103. Michael Hoyer shot a 109 with a 51 on the front and a 58 on the back nine.

Zevin Kummerfeldt shot a 124 with a 63 and a 61. Ryan Rice scored a 68 on the front and improved to a 58 on the back for a 126. Noah Leckie scored a 136 with a 66 and a 70. Cooper Reddies shot a 124 and a 108 for a 232 to round out the Scottie boys.

The Scotties were in Malta Monday for a practice round before the Division 1 Meet on Tuesday. The Scottie boys took second, advancing Smith, Feezell, Rhoads, Ingram and Koski to the state tournament. Lagerquist took 13th in girls action and will also advance to state.

The State B Golf Tournament will be Tuesday and Wednesday, May 17 and 18, in Fairmont Hot Spring.
