Glasgow School Staff Highlight
Mandy Rasmusan currently teaches math at the Glasgow Middle School and is her 22nd year of teaching. She is married to Terry Rasmusan, who is a native of Peerless, Mont., and has four kids, Megan, 26, Glasgow High School class of 2014, DJ, 22, Glasgow High School class of 2018, Mylee, 12, and Kinsley, 10.
"Teaching gives me the opportunity to support student growth and challenge students to prove their thinking. I enjoy that each day brings different tasks for each class, keeping things interesting and motivating. I love getting to know each student – middle school students have some of the best personalities!," she stated on what she loves about teaching.
She believes mistakes are opportunities for learning. In a math classroom, students benefit from understanding that in order to grow and learn, they will make errors. Error analysis offers them the chance to analyze their work as they build to mastery learning. "And man it is fun to watch them gain confidence in their skills!," she said.
In addition to teaching her extra duties she has had in the Glasgow School district include being a Mathcounts Coach since 2011, has coached junior high girls volleyball and basketball in addition to being a National Junior Honor Society advisor.
