Valley County voters made their voices heard on Election Day, May 3. With the exclusion of Opheim, all of the other Valley County schools asked voters to either choose a new trustee and/or to vote on a funding levy. A special district election was also held to help fill three three-year terms on the North Valley County Water & Sewer District.

Frazer School District ran a trustee election as they had one one-year term opening and one three-year term opening. Tihs election was held at the Frazer School Annex and absentee ballots were mailed out.

Michael Cole won the one-year term with 53 votes. He ran against Lillie Cox, who received 44 votes.

Adeline Smoker won the three-year term with 68 votes. She ran against Yancey Beston, who received 47 votes and Mary Sue Jackson, who received 57 votes.

The Clerk and Recorder’s office ran the Glasgow School District election where voters were asked to vote on a general fund levy in the amount of $49,116.48 or approximately 3.12 mills for the purpose of operating and maintaining the schools. Voters chose not to support the general fund levy as 706 voted no with 692 votes for yes.

Voters also were asked to chose between Donald Pansegrau, Erin Aune, Stan Ozark and Larraine Eiland to fill one three-year trustee position. The results were:

Ozark will be sworn in as the newest trustee during the next Glasgow Schoo Board meeting on May 11, 6 p.m.

Hinsdale School District ran their own election, asking voters for $27,906, which is approximately 8.11 mills for the ongoing operation and maintenance of Hinsdale Elementary. This election was held at the Hinsdale School lunch room and absentee ballots were mailed. Voters supported this levy with 102 Yes votes and 17 No votes.

The Clerk and Recorder’s office also ran the Nashua School District election where voters were asked to choose one trustee to serve a three-year position. Michele Fromdahl received 179 votes while Joe Laumeyer received 120 votes. Fromdahl was sworn in as the newest trustee during the Nashua School Board meeting on May 9.

Lustre Elementary School District ran their own election asking voters to approve a general fund levy in the amount of $1,948.35 as well as a building reserve levy in the amount of $20,000 per year for three years, for a total of $60,000. The general fund levy passed with 40 votes for and nine votes against. The building reserve levy also passed with 39 votes for and 10 votes against.

“The school is appreciative of the support that our community members provide!” stated District Clerk Shelley Keller.

In addition to the school elections, there was a Special District Election for the North Valley County Water & Sewer District. This was a mail-ballot election run by the Clerk and Recorder’s office. Of the five candidates, vying for three three-year terms, the results were:

The Glasgow, Nashua and North Valley County Water & Sewer District results are unofficial until the canvass on Wednesday, May 18.
