Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Opheim FFA News

The Opheim FFA chapter recently wrapped up its 92nd Montana FFA State convention in Bozeman. The chapter competed in five competitions all together; Ag Sales, Agronomy, Extemporaneous Speaking, Mechanics, and Prepared Speaking.

The Sales team this year was Cole Taylor, Carrie Taylor, Mandy Furhmann and Zach Fauth. Individually, the top two placings were taken by Cole Taylor (second) and Carrie Taylor (43rd). The next placings taken by the Opheim Sales team was Mandy Fuhrmann (69th) and Zach Fauth (118th). These placings were out of 184 competitors. Overall, the Sales team proudly took fifth place out of 47 teams.

The next competition Opheim took part in was Agronomy; unfortunately, the results are unknown as of now. The participants in Agronomy were Cole Taylor, Carrie Taylor, Fauth, and Bo Anderson. Cole Taylor competed in two speeches at the state convention as well. In Extemporaneous speaking, Cole took second place in the room that he competed in, but didn’t make it to the finals. In Prepared speaking, Cole took first place in his room and ended up fourth place overall in the state.

The final competition was Mechanics; the competitors representing Opheim were Fauth, Cole Taylor, Fuhrmann, and Anderson. The top two placings in this competition were taken by Fauth (33rd) and Cole Taylor (63rd). The next two members that placed were Fuhrmann (136th) and Anderson (151st). There were 192 members that competed in this competition. Overall, the team took 21st out of 50 teams.

A sincere thank you and congratulations goes out to the Opheim FFA seniors for all the effort they put into the organization since the seventh grade. Shout out to President Cole Taylor for being a strong foundation for our chapter. These seniors will certainly be missed and never forgotten; the other teams couldn’t wait until they graduated so they could have a chance to win.
