Law Enforcement Report

There were 30 motor vehicle stops, two reports of loose livestock and one report requesting an inspection on a vehicle.

Thursday, April 7

1153 – A reporting party stated there was a possibly rabid raccoon. The raccoon was moving slow and approaching her husband. She noted that it is in the middle of the day and that it’s a raccoon. She was asking if they should catch or shoot the raccoon She was concerned if there may be a possible outbreak of rabies in the area.

1751 – A caller found a notebook and what appears to be a bank envelope in the middle of US 2 by the Durum. She said it appears someone was collecting money for the Nashua bowling league and believes there is money in the envelope. It was requested to drop off the envelope at Dispatch. At 1754, an officer advised he will meet the reporting party to pick the property up.

1918 – Reporting party requested assistance in contacting someone from Fish Wildlife. He stated they found a wounded owl at the base pond. At 1929 an officer advised he has the owl in his truck. Fish and Game stated the owl probably gorged himself so he can’t fly at the moment. The officer stated he plans on returning the owl to the area to release it.

2011 – Caller reported there’s a VW Passat at Sullivan Park. There’s a single woman in the vehicle that is acting strange. She threw out a cup, she left the park, then returned to the park and then so on. While on the phone it appeared she was leaving again. Highway Patrol was notified and is pulling up behind the vehicle in question. He said there’s three cars parked together like they’re having a get together but there’s no one in the Passat.

2216 – The caller reported they saw a straight line of white lights. The lights came on and then disappeared. While on the phone the lights just stopped. They were wondering if anyone else reported seeing the lights. An officer was patched through and another officer was advised of the call.

Friday, April 8

0604 – An alarm company is reporting an entry/exit from front door alarm. The key holder was notified. Everything is okay, he has been having problems with the alarm. At 0631, per officer, no one appears home, everything appears secure, doors and windows all locked.

1301 – Reporting party called in a deed deer on the south-side of the road. MT DOT was notified.

1416 – A male called in stating there is a pasture there by his shop and in the pasture is a horse and a donkey. He said they have no water and haven’t for quite sometime. He also states he doesn’t believe the owner has fed the animals all winter as the ribs are showing on the horse. Dispatch called the brand inspector’s office and no one answered. An officer was notified who advised they will be taking pictures of the animals.

1645 – PCSO called wanting to talk to a deputy. He said a female saw a live feed of a wedding and is now sending text messages to another individual about someone else. In the text message, she states she’s going to go on a slay fest and said nobody has an idea what she can do. She also mentioned that if she can’t be happy, then nobody can be happy. They believe the female lives either in St. Marie or Glasgow. A deputy was patched through.

1940 – A caller said she pays for her own parking spot at her residence but there are two vehicles parked in her spot. She doesn’t know who the vehicles belong to. An officer was notified.

Saturday, April 9

1256 – The reporting party from the call above called wanting to report his and his wife took water out to the animals and they drank 26 gallons of water. He stated he and his wife are documenting everything they do for the animals.

1309 – A caller reported receiving two photos of what appeared to be a naked or almost naked young female. The first text came through with the comment “I like this picture. Thanks for taking it last night.” The reporting party provided the number the text came from. When the reporting party told them to stop sending things, they quit. An officer was notified and advised the person in the photos was clothed and the individual appeared to be over the age of 18.

1930 – Caller reported while at Holiday, her son found what appears to be a counterfeit $100 bill outside on the ground.

2039 – Officer assisting rancher with cows.

2131 – Reporting party locked herself out. Tried calling emergency numbers. At 2154, per officer the person was let in.

2249 – Per officer have drug dog coming from Roosevelt County and arrived on scene at 2255. At 2326, per officer, canine left scene about 15 minutes ago, negative drugs.

Sunday, April 10

0625 – A reporting party stated they hit a deer. The deer is off the road and dead. The vehicle is still driveable but damaged. At 0619, an officer spoke to the reporting party who took pictures and will continue on her way. MDT local office was notified of the approximate location of the deer.

Monday, April 11

1008 – A reporting party called stating that a male crawled through the window at the provided address. The renter is currently away and she is staying at the house to keep a certain man from entering the property. At 1100 yesterday morning, the male crawled through a window and was going through the drawers of the apartment. She didn’t know his name or where he was from. Later she called back and providing the person’s name and where he is staying. The call was passed on to GPD.

1634 – A reporting party called and stated there was an accident between a semi and a pickup. There were no injuries. They are at the side of the road not creating any blockage.

2150 – A reporting party called to report a Taurus ahead of her and the vehicle could not pick a side of the road or speed. During the call, she stated that the vehicle almost came off the road.

Tuesday, April 12

0057 – An officer is out with a vehicle. The lights are on and the vehicle is running. The officer advised there is someone sleeping in the back of the vehicle. The owner of the property was contacted to check and see if it’s okay the vehicle is on their property.

0119 – People were driving on the yard. Officer advised he spoke with the people and told them to stop driving on the curb and the grass area next to the curb.

0215 – A reporting party called and said there are people arguing over food and would not leave the bar. When asked for his name, he identified himself as the bartender. Dispatch asked for a description, which he would not give, and the names, which he did not know, of those involved.

0225 – An officer advised three males walking down the street. Two are shoving each other. It was advised they were just horsing around.

1028 – An assistant manager advised they found a counterfeit $100 bill on the floor of the store. It was advised it stated “Play Money” on the bill.

1108 – Someone reported the front door to the Roosevelt has been removed and someone has put a three-foot hole in the wood so people can get it. She is concerned that someone broke into the building or can break into the building now with the hole. Officer advised he took photos and will be sending them to the city attorney.

1957 – A caller reported he spun around twice when he was heading home from Albertsons. He stated they needed sanders out there. DOT was contacted who stated they will be sending a crew out.

Wednesday, April 13

0619 – A reporting party called to see if dispatch knew when the plows would clear Highway 438. She thinks it’s going to be particularly nasty as she works in Lustre and drives it on a regular basis. She was notified dispatch weren’t usually told of the schedule but DOT would be contacted to see if they could tell the schedule and about what time they would clear it. At 0622 Helena DOT called back stated the crew was working on US Highway 2 but that Highway 438 would be priority after that.

1255 – Fish and Game advised of a slide off and provided a plate number. There was no visible damage to the vehicle. An officer was notified and later advised there is no damage to the vehicle or property. The vehicle is off the road and not a hazard.

1539 – Property owners of an apartment was contacted due to concern there is a maybe a gas leak. At 1541 it was advised the gas company was called and the issue has been resolved.

2004 – An officer advised the registered owner gave the unlock code to a neighbor who is going to move a vehicle.

2158 – A reporting party called concerned about his girlfriend and some texts he received. He is in California and she is here with a friend. After some talking, it was determined who the friend was. He stated the texts were alright in nature, talking about taking care of a child and watching some dogs, and then the message went darker. At 2202, the reporting party called back and stated his girlfriend is leaving the house where she was at. She and the friend got into a fight and the girlfriend is going to a hotel, two blocks away. He doesn’t know the name of the hotel or the address she left from. At 2300 an officer advised everything is okay. They had gotten into an argument via text and were not together in person tonight.

Thursday, April 14

0741 – A reporting party called in stating someone just ran into his fence off Scotty Pride Dr. The driver is out looking for damage and is down in the ditch. The reporting party provided a description of the vehicle.

0806 – A male called in stating Sawney Drive is very slick. He stated you can see where the county plowed over the top of the road and then almost lost control but still never sanded the road. He advised that if something isn’t done with the road, as it is a school bus route, he will get a lawyer and sue for endangerment. County Road Department was notified who stated the trucks are out.

1234 – A reporting party called in to advise that on US Hwy 2 MM 537 in the curve, the snow has drifted in the westbound lane. It is also bad at MM 525. MT DOT was notified.

2143 – Officer is out on a public assist with a SUV and semi-truck. The SUV is following the semi and flashing their high beams.

Friday, April 15

0305 – Interstate reporting an alarm. The keyholder was contacted who stated the interior office alarm has been acting up. She requested a check of the doors. An officer reported at 0310 that all doors are locked and appears fine.

1112 – A reporting party called in stating a customer was hit in the parking lot. At 1121 an officer advised the store manager is working on getting video on this incident.

1233 – A caller stated there is a pickup truck parked and a man is laying back in the seat. An officer advised the guy has been parked there for a couple of days and is doing survey work.

1338 – An ER nurse called stating she just discharged a dog bit victim. It was the family dog.

2014 – A female was calling from Taco Shack. She spoke with her sister at 5 p.m. and at that time she was headed to Taco Shack however she hasn’t arrived. The person would be on foot and a description was provided. An officer was notified who stated they would check the residence and will tell the reporting party if she is seen tonight.

2216 – A reporting party stated a vehicle has been running back and forth, racing the engine and is waking his kids up. This has been going on for a few days now. He heard whoever is driving is dating someone that lives in the neighborhood.

Saturday, April 16

0004 – A reporting party stated her vehicle was stolen. A description of the vehicle was provided. The keys were in it, and has about ½ to ¼ tank of fuel. She had taken some time from 1830 to 1900 until she called it in. A message to all MT counties was sent out including a call to RCSO about a possible link to a MP call. At 1020 the reporting party called stating she received a Facebook message from male that stated he saw her vehicle in Wolf Point with a male driving. He did not give an address where it was seen last. The reporting party was provided the number to RCSO and was advised to let them know her vehicle was seen in Roosevelt County. At 1607, RCSO called and stated the she has her vehicle back. It was found in Wolf Point out of gas.
