Hambira Leads Lions to Fifth Place at Glasgow Invitational

Jasiah Hambira led his Lustre Christian boys track team to a 5th place finish at the Glasgow Invitational Track Meet April 1. The Lions junior won the 400 meter dash, high jump and triple jump, while placing 2nd in the 200 meter dash. Elijah Lenihan also earned points for the Lions with a 4th place in the high jump.

Hambira, the defending Class C High Jump state champion, won the event in Glasgow after clearing 5-08.00. Lenihan jumped 5-06.00 in his 4th place finish. In the triple jump Hambira set a personal record of 39-09.50, more than 18 inches farther than his nearest competition, to claim the top slot. Lenihan also set a personal record, jumping 34-01.00 and finished in 13th place. He also took 24th in the long jump with a personal record of 15-10.00.

Hambira took the top spot in the 400 meters with a time of 55.49. He ran the 200 meters in 25.24 for his 2nd place finish. Sean Uy took 33rd place with a time of 28.77. Naveen Pilla set a personal record of 34.35 and finished in 41st place.

Uy placed 57th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.10. Lenihan set a personal record of 14.33 and finished in 61st place. Pilla also set a personal record, 16.00, and took 74th place.

Cayden Klatt represented the Lions in the 800 and 1600 meter races. He placed 10th with a time of 2:26.58 in the 800 meters and 14th in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:49.95.

Uy, Arun Ramnarace, Mason Hilkemann and Byron Ewing teamed up for the 4x100 relay and finished in 14th place with a time of 1:00.74. Lenihan, Pilla, Klatt and Hambira ran the 4x400 and placed 7th with a time of 4:41.55.

Hilkemann took 33rd in the shot put with a throw of 31-10.00. Ewing threw 26-07.50, finishing in 57th while Ramnarace took 64th with a throw of 25-08.50. Klatt led the Lions in the discus, throwing 84-01 and taking 35th place. Uy was just an inch shy of Klatt's throw and took 36th. Ramnarace threw 78-03 and took 45th place. Hilkemann finished 47th with his throw of 70-08.

Uy took 34th in the javelin with a throw of 95-02. Ramnarace threw 72-00 and placed 67th, followed by Hilkemann with a throw of 71-04 in 68th place. Pilla took 85th with a throw of 37-05.

Rebecca Jossart set a personal record in the girls' 100 meter dash, running the race in 16.12 and finishing in 37th place. She also ran the 3200 meters, finishing 11th with a time of 15:21.91.

Meredith Valentine led the Lions girls team in the shot put, finishing 38th with a throw of 22-01.25. Rachel Pew threw 20-01.25 and took 45th while Sarah Dahl placed 50th with a throw of 15-08.50. Pew threw 44-03 in the discus and took 40th place while Dahl threw 35-08 and took 44th place.

Valentine took 47th in the javelin with a throw of 50-08. Dahl took 51st with a distance of 45-09.

Jossert leapt 11-02.00 to take 33rd in the girls' long jump while Pew took 44th with a jump of 9-05.50.

The Lustre Christian Lions will travel to Lambert on Thursday, April 7, for the Richey & Lambert Invite.
