Valley County Successful In Application For Duck Creek Road

The Valley County Commissioners advised that the proposal they submitted for Duck Creek Road improvements to the Montana Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP) has been approved for $4.7 million. The original proposal included a $50,000 match from Valley County; however, the match has been eliminated so there will be no Valley County funding required for the project.

The scope of work includes rebuilding, widening, and repaving the current paved portion of Duck Creek Road from Highway 24 to the Poverty Ridge turnoff, straightening the portion between Poverty Ridge and Millionaire Mile, and reducing the slope of the road between Millionaire Mile and Mallard Drive. Dust abatement options will also be considered.

Actual construction of the road will likely occur in 2024-2025 timeframe.

The next steps in the process include contact by the Western Federal Lands program manager to determine the project delivery process, verify the project delivery agency, and appropriate programming year. Public participation in the process will be encouraged and details will be available as we are advised.
