Bantam Ice Dawgs Split Games with Coyotes

Glasgow’s Bantam Ice Dawgs traded 5-3 final scores with the Williston Coyotes in a pair of games on Sunday at the Valley Event Center with the visitors taking the first game.

In the first of two non-conference games the Coyotes took a 3-2 lead in the first period. Williston scored the first two before Glasgow answered.

Bode Barnett netted the first for Glasgow with help from Gryffen Collins. Brody Hansen scored the second Dawgs goal with an assist from Barnett with 1:20 remaining in the period. Williston added a third goal with 30 seconds left.

The Ice Dawgs tied the game with 4:31 left before intermission on a goal from Barnett with help from Hansen and Collins. But Williston regained the lead with 1:13 left on the clock.

The Coyotes added a goal in the third to secure the victory.

Both teams played clean games giving the officials no extra work.

Puck control was even throughout the game with each team putting 28 pucks on net. Jacob Potter in net for Glasgow turned in an 82.1 save percentage.

After a recovery period, the Dawgs and the Coyotes hit the ice again.

Williston found the back of the net first but Collins answered to tie the score. Barnett assisted. Williston took their second and final lead back with just under seven minutes remaining in the first.

Barnett tied the game in the second period and Tavin Boland put the Dawgs ahead less than a minute later. Charlie Cornwell assisted on both goals.

The Coyotes tied the game just into the third period but the Dawgs defended their home ice. Hansen put the Dawgs ahead with just over three minutes to play and Kimber Dulaney cemented the win with a minute remaining.

Barnett served the only penalty of the game, sitting for roughing in the second period.

Glasgow put 34 pucks on net while Potter turned in a 91.9 save percentage, turning away 34 shots on his home.

The Bantams will be in Butte for the Bantam State A Hockey Tournament Thursday through Sunday, March 10-13. The Dawgs will play Whitefish at 8 a.m. and Butte at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 11. They will face Bozeman on Saturday, March 12, at 8 p.m.
