19U Ice Dawgs Hit Rough Patch in Woodland Park

The 19U Ice Dawgs traveled to Woodland Parks in Kalispell for games against Salmon and Flathead this past weekend. Glasgow came up just short against Salmon, losing both games by a 4-3 margin. The Dawgs fell to the Flathead Fusion 8-0 and 6-0 in each of those two match ups.

Glasgow scored a goal in each period of game one Friday night against Salmon, but the team from Idaho put up two goals in both the second and third periods for the win.

Phoenix Phipps, assist Tatum Provencher, scored the Dawgs’ first goal. Ava Lloyd netted the second period goal and the third, with an assist from Kylie Lagerquist on the latter.

Glasgow was called for only two penalties: Molly Whitmer, tripping, and a team too-many-men-on-the-ice call, both in the second period.

The Dawgs put 33 shots on net while Delaney Rixford turned away 20 attempts for an 83.3 save percentage.

In their second face off, Salmon held a 2-0 lead after one and carried a 4-2 lead into intermission. Glasgow added a goal in the third but was unable to send the game into extra time.

Lloyd netted the first of Glasgow’s on a power play. Lagerquist and Kimber Dulaney assisted. Lloyd also scored the Dawgs second goal, this time with help from Dulaney and Victoria Pehlke. Dulaney was the goal scorer in the third period. Pehlke earned her second assist on the goal.

Shanice Lagerquist served the Dawgs only penalty, sitting for tripping in the first period.

Rixford turned in an 87.1 save percentage, turning away 27 attempts. Glasgow’s offense put 45 pucks on net at the other end of the ice.

The local Flathead Flames were next on the Dawgs’ agenda. The teams met on Saturday where the home team won 8-0 after scoring 4 goals in the first, one in the second and three in the third period.

Glasgow put 17 shots on net while Rixford faced 51 attempts between the pipes.

The Fusion drew no penalties in the game while Glasgow racked up 16 minutes on four infracitons. Provencher was called for a 2-and-10 for boarding and misconduct in the first. S. Lagerquist served a tripping penalty in the second. Provencher returned to the sin bin in the third period for cross-checking.

Glasgow’s fourth game of the weekend came early Sunday morning, but bore no more fruit than the previous games.

The Flames scored two goals in each of the three periods while shutting the Dawgs out.

Rixford faced 38 pucks in the crease while the Dawgs’ offense registered only 10 shots. Molly Whitmer served Glasgow’s only penalty, sitting for tripping in the first period.

The 19U Ice Dawgs will be in Havre for the 19U State Tournament Friday through Sunday, Feb. 25-27.

Glasgow begins the tournament with an 8 a.m. game with a rematch against the Flathead Flames. They face the Salmon Rapids on Saturday at 10 a.m., both games in pool play.
