Frazer Boys 1-1 in Final Regular Season Weekend

The Frazer boys basketball team split their final regular season weekend games with a conference loss and a conference win. The Bearcubs fell on the road to the Dodson Coyotes 80-53 Friday but rebounded to win at home, 50-46, over the North Country Mavericks on Saturday.

Frazer held tight with Dodson the first half, trailing 22-15 after one and 34-27 at the half. A 21-point third quarter put Dodson up 56-37 heading into the final eight minutes.

Keein Ackerman made the most of his return for Frazer, pouring in 25 points. Ty Fourstar added 11 with three downtown shots. Jonathan Jackson and Ryker Ackerman scored 5 each, Blue Fettig hit a trey and Joseph Bestong and Jarvis Goodbird both hit a field goal.

Frazer had 12 fouls, split evenly between the halves. Fettig and Beston each had four infractions while Jackson had two. Fourstar, R. Ackerman and K. Ackerman had one each.

At home Saturday night, the Bearcubs fended off a second half Mavericks’ rally for the win. Frazer led 22-7 after one and 30-15 at halftime. They were outscored 14-5 in the third and 17-15 in the fourth but held on for a 4-point victory.

R. Ackermann hit five long shots to lead the team with 20 points. K. Ackerman added 15 points with three treys. Jackson and Fourstar each hit a three-pointer and scored 7 points. Fettig added a free throw.

The Bearcubs had 15 fouls, nine in the second half. Beston fouled out while R. Ackerman and K. Ackerman were called for three each. Fettig had two and Fourstar and Jackson had one each.

Frazer and North Country meet again in the postseason with a first-round game in the District 3-C Tournament. The teams are set to meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16 in Wolf Point.
