Scottie Girls Improve to 10-6

The Glasgow girls basketball team improved their overall record to 10-6 this past week with wins over Glendive and Scobey. Thursday the Scotties downed the Red Devils 46-27 in Glendive. Glasgow defeated the Spartans 36-27 in front of a home crowd Saturday evening.

Glasgow shut out Glendive in the first quarter while scoring 11 points. The Scotties doubled their points before halftime to carry a 22-8 lead into the break.

In the third quarter, Glasgow outscored their hosts 13-7. The Red Devils edged the Scotties by a point in the final eight minutes but could not over Glasgow's lead.

Sabrina Harsh led all scorers with 17 points, including a three-pointer. Daley Aune poured in 15 points followed by Carly Nelson with 8 points. Abrianna Nielsen, Blaire Westby and Tyann Graham each hit a field goal.

Glasgow had 17 fouls, 11 in the second half. Nielsen fouled out and Aune was called for four infractions. Graham, Nelson and Harsh had three fouls a piece.

In JV action the Scotties fell 31-29 despite a second half comeback. The Red Devils led 6-3 and 16-9 in the first two quarters.

Glasgow turned on the offense in the second half with 10 points in each the third and fourth quarters. However, Glendive put up 3 and 12 in the same frames to hold a 2-point advantage at the final buzzer.

Allie Palm and Tatum Nyquist led the team with 7 points each. Brielle Partridge, Aspen Stulc and Piper Johnson each contributed 4 points. Macy Martin added 2 and Stevie Hartwell 1 point.

The Scotties had 17 fouls, 10 in the second half. Palm was called for four and Nyquist three. Tanae baker, Partridge, Stulc and Harwell had two a piece. Martin, Riley Evenson-Glasoe and Johnson had one infraction each.

Glasgow's C squad won their game 33-21. The Scotties outscored the Red Devils in all but one quarter: 9-4, 3-6, 9-7 and 12-4.

Eve Stone put up 13 points to lead the Scotties followed by Hayden Green with 7 and Johnson with 6. Baker, Evenson-Glasoe and Emmah Mix each hit a field goal and Addison Zoanni added a free throw in the win.

Glasgow had 15 fouls, eight in the second half. Green was called for four fouls. Abby Kulczyk, Johnson and Mix had two each. Baker, Evenson-Glasoe, Kat Malnaa, Zoanni and Amber Pearson drew the officials' attention a single time a piece.

On Saturday the Scotties made the most of their Senior Night with a solid 36-27 win over the Spartans. Glasgow established their lead in the first quarter, 11-6, and held on to it for the remainder of the game. They led 18-13 at the half and by a single point, 24-23 heading into the final eight minutes. A 12-point fourth quarter propelled them to the victory as they held the Spartans to 4 points at the same time.

Graham was the only player in the game to hit double-digit scoring. She hit three shots from downtown and scored 11 points for Glasgow. Nielsen and Nelson each scored 8 points. Westby and Aune added 4 points a piece and Harsh scored a free throw.

Glasgow had 10 fouls, seven in the second half. Nelson had four, Harsh three, Westby two and Nielson one.

Opheim's Carrie Taylor, playing for the Unified Scobey-Opheim team, scored 6 points and was called for one foul.

The Scottie JV squad struggled in their match-up against the Spartans, falling 35-15. Stulc and Nyquist each scored 4 points. Johnson added 3, Baker 2 and Partridge and Harwell each hit a free throw.

Glasgow had 14 fouls, eight in the second half. Baker and Stulc were each called for four infractions and Johnson had two. Martin, Nyquist, Hartwell and Green had one foul a piece.

Glasgow's C squads, boys and girls, hosted the Lustre Christian Lions Monday night, but scores were unavailable at press time.

Glasgow closes out their regular season this week with two road games. Friday, Feb. 11, the Scotties will be in Harlem. The girls JV team plays at 3:30 p.m. followed by the boys JV team at 5 p.m. The varsity girls game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and the boys varsity is set to begin at 8 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 12, Glasgow travels to Poplar. Games begin at 1 p.m. with the girls JV followed by boys JV at 2:30 p.m. The varsity girls play at 4 p.m. and the varsity boys conclude the day with a 5:30 p.m. game.
