Nashua Girls Win Two

The Nashua girls basketball team added two more wins to their record this past weekend with strong fourth quarter performances over Frazer and Brockton. The Porcupines defeated the Bearcubs 49-39 Friday in Frazer and followed that with a 56-37 win over the Warriors Saturday in Brockton.

Nashua and Frazer stood tied at the end of the first quarter with 15 points on each side of the scoreboard. The Porcupines put up 17 points in the second for a 32-28 lead at the half.

Frazer outscored the visitors 11-4 in the the third but Nashua rebounded in the final eight minutes with 13 points while shutting the home team out.

Tia Dees put up 28 points for Nashua, including a three-pointer. Kaitlyn Miller scored 12 points followed by Hadynn Adkins with 5. Alexis Murdock and Deja Morgan each added a field goal.

Nashua had only eight fouls in the game, two in the second half. Dees had four, Adkins and Miller two each and Guinevere Abern one.

Saturday in Brockton, the Porcupines led at the end of each quarter: 10-5, 25-21 and 35-29 in the first three. Nashua put up 21 points in final eight minutes to secure their win.

Dees again led all scorers with 29 points. Murdock added 13 with a three-pointer. Morgan and Adkins added 7 points a piece.

The handsy game saw Brockton called for 24 fouls and Nashua 21, nine in the second half. Miller fouled out while Adkins had four and Morgan and Abern three fouls each. Dees was called for two while Alyssa Murdock, Keelyn Skolrud, Alexis Murdock and Gracyn Sibley had one each.

Nashua hosts Scobey this Friday, Feb. 11, and Richey/Lambert on Saturday, Feb. 12. The girls JV will play at 3 p.m. followed by the boys JV at 4:30 p.m. and the girls varsity game will be at 6 p.m. followed by the boys varsity at 7:30 p.m. on both days.
