Grapplers Mix it up at Matador

The 50th Annual Forsyth Matador Invitational was a scaled-down event this year, cut from two days to one. Glasgow's wrestling team attended the mixer and four wrestlers brought home undefeated records from the event.

The Glasgow seniors proved dominant in Forsyth. Kyler Hallock went 3-0 on the day and won the Outstanding Wrestler Award. Devon Nesbitt and Damien Nesbitt each went 2-0 and Jake Kuka was 1-0.

Jack Cornwell and Ted Tryan turned in winning records at 2-1 each. Ted See split his matches, 1-1, and Shalynn Pedersen was 0-2 in the girls' tournament.

Glasgow was ranked number three as a team in last week's wrestling coaches polls from 406 Sports, behind Huntley Project and Cut Bank.

Kyler Hallock, 205, and Damien Nesbitt, 170, were ranked first in their weight classes. Mason Donaldson was ranked third in 152 and Devon Nesbitt was in fourth in 160. Jake Kuka was ranked fifth in 113.

The Scotties close out the regular season this week with three events. Thursday, Jan. 27, Glasgow hosts Havre for a Senior Night Dual. Action kicks off at 6 p.m. in Scottie gymnasium.

Friday, Jan. 28, and Saturday, Jan. 29, the team will be in Malta. Friday's event is the Malta Mixer followed by the Malta Invitational on Saturday.
