The Scottie boys added one loss and one win to their conference record in a pair of of home games this past weekend. Friday night they fell to the Harlem Wildcats 71-64 in a tight game. Against the Poplar Indians the following night, the Scotties came out ahead 53-43 at the end of four quarters.
The Scotties went down by 3 points at the end of the first quarter against the Wildcats, 15-12. Glasgow cut into Harlem’s lead by one point at the half, 25-23.
After the break, Harlem carried a 51-47 lead into the final quarter. Glasgow outscored their opponents 11-10 in the quarter before halftime.
A high-scoring second half led to a 51-47 Harlem lead going into the third quarter. The Wildcats outscored the Scotties 20-17 in the final quarter.
The Scotties were called for 12 fouls in the game, nine in the second half. Keigan Ingram was called for four infractions. Dalton Sand, Riley Smith and Bergen Miller were called for two a piece. Wyatt Babb and Beau Malnaa had one foul each.
Babb led the Scotties in scoring with 18, including a three-pointer. Smith added 16, also with a trey. Ingram put up 10 points, KJ Ingram 8, Miller 5, Sand 4 and Malnaa 3 points.
The Scotties pulled down 44 rebounds, 17 offensively. Babb had three offensive and seven defensive boards to lead the team. Miller had eight rebounds and Smith and Sand each added seven.
Smith and Sand each had two steals for Glasgow. Smith also had two blocks in the game as did Malnaa. Miller led in assists with four. Babb and Sand each contributed two assists.
The Scottie JV team won their game 59-41.
They led 17-10 at the end of the first and went into halftime tied at 26. In the third Glasgow put up 13 points to Harlem’s 11. The Scotties owned the final eight minutes with 20 points while holding the Wildcats to two field goals.
Vaughn Miller led the squad with 22 points. KJ Ingram added 10 while Connor Hudyma and Nic Solorzano added 7 points each. Jordan Cook scored 6, Toryn Richards 5 and Aiden Hoerster 2 points.
The next night, Glasgow took control of the game in the first quarter and held on throughout the full 32 minutes.
The Scotties led 14-7 after the first and 32-18 going into the half. Poplar outscored Glasgow 13-7 in the third but Glasgow held a 39-31 lead going into the final quarter. The home team outscored the Indians 14-12 in the fourth.
Babb led all scorers with 23 points. K. Ingram added 10, Sand and Miller 7 each, Smith 4 and KJ Ingram 2 points.
Glasgow had nine fouls in the game, seven in the second half. Smith was called for four and Sand two. Babb, Miller and K. Ingram had one a piece.
The Scotties had 24 rebounds in the game, nine offensive and 15 defensive. K. Ingram led the team with eight boards, five offensive. Smith pulled down six rebounds.
Babb, K. Ingram and Smith each notched three steals. K. Ingram, Miller and Smith had two assists a piece for Glasgow. Smith and Babb each blocked a shot in the win.
In JV action, the Scotties registered their second win of the weekend with a 51-36 final score.
Glasgow led 14-9, 27-17, 36-28 and 51-36 at the end of each quarter.
Cook led the JV squad with 14 points followed closely by Miller with 12. Myles Yoakam added 7, Nate Hentges and Hoerster 6 each, Richards 4 and Hudyma 2.
The Scotties’ C squad was in Lustre Jan. 10 to play the Lions JV team. The Scotties fell to the Lions 46-25.
Glasgow led after the first, 12-11, but went down 28-19 at the half. Lustre shut Glasgow out in the third quarter while scoring 13 points. Glasgow outscored their hosts 6-5 in the final eight minutes.
Rex Monson led the Scotties with 11 points, including a three-pointer. Carter Hoerster added 6, Coy Nelson 4, and Noah Runner and Noah Leckie 2 points each.
Braden Ewing scored 18 for Lustre Christian. Bryan Chen added 12 points, Clay Reddig 8, Alex Chen 5, Mason Hilkemann 2 and Byron Ewing 1 point.
Glasgow travels to Scobey Thursday, Jan. 20. The boys C squad plays at 3 p.m. in the small gym. The JV girls play at 3 p.m. in the big gym, followed by boys JV at 4:30 p.m. Varsity girls play at 6 p.m. and the boys varsity game begins at 7:30 p.m. Varsity games will be on Nemont TV and KLTZ radio.
Friday, Jan. 21, the Scotties will be in Sidney to play the Eagles. The girls C squad plays at 1 p.m. and the girls JV at 2:30 p.m. in the SMS gym. Boys C Squad plays at 1 and boys JV at 2:30 p.m. in the SHS gym. Boys varsity plays in the SHS gym at 4 p.m. followed by the girls varsity at 5:30 p.m. Varsity games will be on the NFHS network and KLTZ radio.
