Damien Nesbitt and Kyler Hallock Win at Cowboy Classic

Glasgow grapplers Jake Kuka, Devon Nesbitt, Damien Nesbitt, Mason Donaldson and Kyler Hallock all earned Top Five finishes at the Cowboy Classic in Miles City the past weekend.

Hallock won the 205 lb. class 3-2 over Stran Selman of Huntley Project, marking his third title of the 2021-2022 season.

Damien Nesbitt also defeated a Red Devil for his title in the 170 lb. class. He pinned Wylee Lindeen in 2:38 for his title.

Devon Nesbitt finished in second place, falling to Huntley Project’s Garrett Sholley by a score of 6-3 in the 160 lb. class.

Jake Kuka earned a fifth place finish inn the 113 lbs. class with a 1:43 pin over Kyler Schalesky of Hettinger/Scranton, N.D.

Mason Donaldson also earned a top five finish, pinning Chris Boardman, Moorcroft, Wyo., in just 49 seconds. Donaldson placed fifth in 152 lbs.

As a team, the Scotties finished in fifth place out of 22 schools. They earned 145.5 points at the meet.

On Thursday, Glasgow was in Sidney to take on the defending Class A state champion Eagles. The host team won the dual 43-18.

Damien Nesbitt won a 1-0 decision over Grady Nelson and Hunter Crum also won a decision, 5-2, over Caleb Klienke to earn Glasgow points. Kyler Hallock pinned Nathan Romo in 3:25.

Head coach Jory Casterline said, “The biggest takeaway from this weekend was the fact we avenged losses and closed the distance in other matches.”

The Scotties travel to Forsyth this Saturday, Jan. 22, for the 50th Annual Matador Invitational.
