The Lions established early and firm control in their game against the Frazer Bearcubs Jan. 8. The Lustre Christian boys exploded with 32 points in the first eight minutes of play, going on to win 75-13.
Frazer was held to 6 points in the first and 7 in the second quarter. A tough Lions team shut the visitors out in the second half.
Lustre added 17 points in the second quarter. After the half they scored 12 and 14 points in the remaining quarters.
Lustre had 13 fouls in the win, three in the second half. Cayden Klatt was called for four, Kolden Hoversland, Clay Reddig and Jasiah Hambira were called for two each while Bryan Chen, Gabe Alves and Braden Ewing had one a piece.
Hambira led the Lions with 19 points. Hoversland added 15 and Ewing had 10 points. Klatt scored 9, Elijah Lenihan 8, Chen and Reddig 4 each, and Alex Chen, Kaleb Hoversland and Nathan Fast contributed 2 a piece.
Kolden Hoversland and Hambira each pulled down seven rebounds. B. Chen, A. Chen, Lenihan, Ewing and Fast had four boards each. Reddig led the Lions in assists with four, followed by Clatt with three and Alves, Kolden Hoversland and Lenihan with two each.
Hambira and Ewing had three steals each while Cklatt, Kaleb Hoversland and Kolden Hoversland had two a piece.
Lustre Christian hosts North Country Friday, Jan. 14. The boys JV game starts at 4:30 p.m., followed by girls varsity at 6 p.m. and boys varsity at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, the Lions travel to Dodson. Boys JV starts at 3 p.m., followed by girls varsity at 4:30 p.m. and boys varsity at 6 p.m.
