Glasgow hosted the North Country Mavericks for a non-conference game Thursday. The Scotties, after a sluggish first half, took a 55-27 win off the Mavs.
The visiting team took a 9-5 lead after the first quarter of play and added another 6 points in the second to take a 15-14 lead into halftime.
The Scotties took control of the game in the third quarter, adding 27 points to their side of the scoreboard while holding the Mavericks to a single field goal. Glasgow continued the scoring onslaught it the final eight minutes with 14 points. North Country connected for 10 points, giving Glasgow the 55-27 victory.
North Country was called for 15 fouls and Glasgow had 12, five in the second half. Glasgow's Dalton Sand was called for three. Riley Smith, Wyatt Babb, Beau Malnaa and Toryn Richards had two each. Bergen Miller was called for one.
Babb led the Scotties in scoring with 16, going 2-for-4 on three pointers. Smith added 14 and Miller put up 11 points, including two treys and going 3-for-4 at the charity stripe. Richards scored 6 points, Sand 5, Vaughn Miller 2 and Malnaa 1.
Miller pulled down eight rebounds for Glasgow, five defensive. Babb and Sand each had five boards. Miller also had five steals for Glasgow as did Ashton potter. Sand and Smith had three takeaways for the Scotties. Babb, Miller and Potter each had three assists in the win.
In JV action, the teams met for a half game with North Country suiting up only five players. Glasgow won 24-7.
The Scotties took a 6-0 lead after one half-quarter and led 14-3 at the half. Neither team connected in the third quarter and Glasgow outscored North Country 10-4 in the final half-quarter.
North Country had four fouls, two in each half, while Glasgow had five total, four in second half. Ty Westby was called for two while Dylan Plummer, Noah Runner and Noah Leckie had one each.
Westby led the Scotties in scoring with 13 points, including three shots from downtown. Kyler Holinde and Rex Monson added 4 points each. Coy Nelson had 2 and Runner 1.
Games in Scobey on Saturday were rescheduled due to weather and road conditions. The games are now planned for Thursday, Jan. 20. Boys C squad will play at 3 p.m. in the small gym and the girls JV will play at the same time in the big gym. Boys JV will play at 4:30 p.m., followed by girls varsity at 6 p.m. and boys varsity at 7:30 p.m., all in the big gym.
This week the Scotties host Harlem on Friday, Jan. 14, and Poplar on Saturday, Jan. 15. Games begin with girls JV at 1 p.m. on Friday against the Wildcats and at noon on Saturday against the Indians.
