The North Country boys found their first victory on the road last week when they traveled to Nashua and defeated the Porcupines by a 20-point margin, 52-32.
The home team took a 13-12 lead after one quarter of play, but North Country threw up 17 points in the second while holding Nashua to 9 to take a 29-22 lead into halftime.
Back on the court, the Mavericks outscored the Porcupines again in the third quarter by a margin of 12-4 and in the fourth 11-6 to secure their victory.
North Country ran up 19 fouls in the game, 10 in the second half. Blaine Downing fouled out while Trey Johnson, Kade Strommen and Aiden Albus had four each. Taylor Mogan and Coy Bowman were each called for one.
Albus led the Mavericks with 17 points. Johnson, Downing and Bowman each put 9 points with all of Bowman’s coming on three-pointers. Strommen scored 8, going 4-for-6 on free throws.
North Country returns to the court Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, when they travel to Glasgow to play the Scotties. The girls varsity game will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the boys varsity at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2002, the host the Scobey Spartans in Hinsdale. Girls varsity will play at 6 p.m. followed by the boys varsity at 7:30 p.m.
