Lustre Christian Lions
The Lustre Christian girls basketball team added two to their win column this past weekend at the Tip-Off Tourney in Wolf Point. The downed the Wolf Point JV team 40-24 and defeated the Poplar JV squad 63-37.
Friday night against the Wolves, the Lions overcame a slow first-quarter start to run away with the game. After going down by one point, 7-6, they outscored the host team 9-4 in the second to take a 15-11 lead at the half.
The Lions came out hot after the break, putting up 17 points in the third while again holding the Wolves to 4. Wolf Point outscored the Lions, again by a one-point margin, in the fourth, 9-8, but could not overcome the Lions' lead.
Alexa Reddig drained 18 points to lead the Lions, including 12-for-16 at the charity strip.e Grace Brown connected for 13 points, including five free throws. Aubri Holzrichter scored 8 and Hannah Brown added 1 point.
Saturday evening, the Lions exploded out of the gate, pouring in 22 points in the first quarter, while holding Poplar to 8 points. Lustre added 13 points in second to take a 35-19 lead at the half.
The Lions added 11 and 17 points in the third and fourth quarters while the Indians scored 13 in the third and 5 points in the final quarter.
Reddig scored 36 points for Lustre and Holzrichter added 18, including the Lions' only trey. Brown scored 7 and Anna Teichroew added 2 points. The Lions went 10-for-20 at the free throw line.
The Lions will be in Nashua Friday, Dec. 17, with games at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m. Lustre hosts Culbertson Saturday, Dec. 18, with games at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m.
They will be in Bainville Monday, Dec. 20, with game times to be announced. On Tuesday, Dec. 21, they host Scobey with game times at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m.
