The Glasgow Ice Dawgs bantam team traveled to Butte this past weekend where they tied game one at 5-5 with the host team, then rebounded to win 8-5 in game two.
Glasgow scored first in game one when Brody Barnett hit the back of the net at 12:59.
Butte tied the game at 11:16 in the second period but Glasgow regained the lead at 4:37 on a goal from Tavin Boland, assist Brody Hansen. Glasgow took a two-goal lead at 3:17 on a goal from Landon Honey with an assist from Boland. With just 38 seconds left before intermission, Butte cut that lead back down to one goal.
The home team came out firing in the third, putting three straight goals on the board to take their own two-goal lead. Glasgow answered back though. Boland brought the Dawgs within one at 9:06 with an assist from Barnett. Barnett himself made good on the man-advantage with 1:47 left to play to tie the game at five goals each.
Jacob Potter faced 25 shots on his net, earning an 80.0 save percentage. Glasgow owned the puck in the game, putting 42 total pucks on the Butte net.
Butte was called for three infractions, giving up one power-play goal. Glasgow was called for only one penalty – Halle hunter, hooking in the first – which they successfully killed.
Back on the ice that evening, the Dawgs surged out to a 5-1 lead after the first period. Brody Hansen scored the first two goals for Glasgow, the second of which was a shortie with an assist from Barnett. Butte put one goal on the board before Barnett and Hansen reversed roles on a Barnett goal. Boland netted Glasgow's fourth goal and Hansen scored goal number five.
Butte struck first in their second-period comeback attempt but Hansen answered with help from Kimber Dulaney and Barnett less than two minutes later. Butte scored on the man-advantage with Hansen in the penalty box for roughing. Back on the ice, he assisted on Barnett's second goal of the game. Butte though, put two more goals up on the board, including a shortie, to bring the score to 7-5 at going into intermission.
Glasgow's Hudson Honey was the only player to the biscuit in the net in the third period, securing the Dawgs' win at 10:27.
Potter faced 35 shots between the pipes while his teammates put 38 shots on the Butte net.
Glasgow was called for seven infractions while Butte had eight penalties.
Potter was called for delay of game and L. Honey for tripping in the first. Barnett was called for unsportsmanlike and Hansen served time for interference and roughing in the second. Barnett and Hunter were each called for roughing in the third.
The Bantams will be in Helena this Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 18-19, for games.
