Scottie Boys Drop First Game

Wolves Win 55-44

The host Wolf Point Wolves jumped out to an early lead at home over the Scotties which they held on to despite a second half Glasgow rally. Wolf Point took the first game of the season by an 11-point margin, 55-44.

Glasgow was outscored in the first quarter 12-7 and 20-8 in the second quarter, giving the home team a 32-15 lead going into halftime. The Scotties outscored the Wolves by one point in the third, 10-9 and by 5 in the fourth, 19-14, but fell short of undoing Wolf Point’s lead.

Freshman Wyatt Babb led the Scotties with 25 points, including going 13 of 19 at the free throw line. Bergen Miller added 7 points: two field goals and a trey. Ashton Potter scored 5 points, Dalton Sand 4, Riley Smith 2 and KJ Ingram had 1 point.

Glasgow went 13-38 on field goals and continue to work on their outside game, scoring 1-for-7 beyond the three-point line. They had a 54.8 free throw percentage, going 17-for-31 in the game.

The Scotties pulled down 29 boards in the game, 19 defensive rebounds and 10 offensive rebounds. They had 12 steals, 21 turnovers, 2 blocks and 6 assists.

Fouling was low in the first half with Wolf Point getting called for seven and Glasgow six fouls. In the second half, both teams were called for 10 fouls. Sand and Smith fouled out of the game. Babb had four fouls, Beau Malnaa had two and Potter was called for one.

The Scottie JV team defeated the Wolves by a margin of 51-34. Jordan Cook led the Scotties in scoring with 16 points followed by Myles Yoakam with 11, including two treys, and Vaughn Miller with 10. Toryn Richards and Aiden Hoerster added 6 points each. Cook also led the Scotties in rebounds with nine total, one offensive. The team had 25 total rebounds, 15 steals, 16 turnovers, one block and 16 assists. Cook had five assists and Ty Westby had three.

The JV team will attend the Wolf Point Tip-Off Tournament Friday and Saturday, Dec. 10-11. The Scotties play Frazer at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and Lustre at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The varsity squad will be in Red Lodge Friday and Saturday, Dec. 10-11 for the Red Lodge High School Wooden Memorial Tournament. Glasgow plays Red Lodge at 8 p.m. on Friday and Joliet at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
