Military Vehicles, Fall Backward, and Winter is Coming

Adventures in St. Marie

In the What the heck department?!!

On Nov. 5, at about 11 a.m., going through Glasgow was a special train load heading for Washington State.

What was in the flat train cars?

Military vehicles, thirty railroad cars carrying three of these special military vehicles each.

Last year, there were video's of the same kind of military vehicles being transported east, which doesn't help the laymen's sense of imagination. Some might be thinking conspiracy theory....

Fall Backward

Well, it is that time of year again and if you haven't changed your clocks back yet, ya might want to, now!

As a matter of fact, did you know that daylight savings time can cause havoc with your health?

According to Beth Ann Malow, MD, professor of Neurology and Paediatrics in the Sleep Disorders Division at Vanderbilt University Medical Center "It's not one hour twice a year. It's a misalignment of our biologic clocks for eight months of the year.

According to Farmer's Almanac: Historically, the changing of the clocks started in 1918 as a fuel-saving measure during World War I.

Prepare for Winter!

Especially for newer residents here in Valley County,

It is always advisable starting now through winter time to have a winter weather kit in your car.

Northeastern Montana/Mother Nature can be very unforgiving if you are not prepared for the worst.

NOAA has an excellent site online that gives you everything that you should have in your car as a winter safety kit and a winter storm survival kit that you can put in the trunk of your car.

Yes, you can buy ready made ones but noaa goes into detail on what you can put into a bag for your vehicle that you might have in your home.

One other suggestion to keep in your vehicle is a small battery jumper.

We have one that is small, a Portable Lithium Car Battery Jump Starter that is only six and a half inches long, a little over 3 inches wide and very powerful for jumping your car battery.

We have even jumped a large tracker battery with it and it starts right up! And is under two pounds!

So much better than the heavy bulky jumpers we used to have. The one we have is a Nexpow brand on Amazon but there are quite a few different ones and are reasonably priced.

Ours has two USB ports that you can charge your cell phone, has a built in flashlight, a SOS and strobe light.

And it can be charged up by your usb port in your car or even your laptop!

Be safe this winter!

Starting a new life

As many of you know by now, former resident and motor vehicle examiner Angela France has - after 17 years - moved on to a new career.

Angela had transferred from Glasgow to Roundup in July of this year and now she has moved to Glendive with a new work title, Assistant Treasurer of Dawson County.

Good luck to your new life and endeavors, Angela!
