Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Greetings from the "Original" Adventures in St. Marie.
We were rather flummoxed when we listened to our phone answering device and found out that we were writing articles for the "Buzz!"
After carefully checking the assertion we found out "close, but no cigar."
Our header was copied for the most part. So to make it perfectly clear we are not affiliated in any way, with "The Buzz," or the author of the article. We are sorry that you got confused.
"Nuff said" on that!
On the Mend
We can now report of two residents who were quarantined with COVID and are now on the mend and doing better. Good on you, Rob and Jamie Esaias.
Trick-or-Treat, Smell My Feet!
All Hallows Eve, or Halloween, has come and gone and hopefully you were not tricked but gave treats. Hey, that is what it is all about.
Ghost Fort
We went to the Ghost Walk at old Fort Buford near Williston, and were saddened to hear that our Dear friend Debbie Crossland, the Assistant Site Supervisor, had to miss the festivities due to a death in the family. The event went as planned, but was without Ms. Crossland.
Condolences, dear friend!
On the Ghost walk we met Private George Hallman, the first US Calvary soldier to die at the Fort in 1866.
How do we know, because he told us so! As the crowd stood by his grave marker he told of how he had only been there for a short time and then contracted dysentery. He said he did not figure that he would die that way, but instead in battle.
Well, you make plans then life steps in.
Despite the adverse weather, all of the actors at the fort did a magnificent job of portraying the persons that had passed and telling their stories.
A lot of research was done. Thank you all!
Beans, Beans the Magical Fruit
Weather is getting cooler and thoughts of a big bowl of chili sounds great.
That reminds me of what frontiersman Kit Carson's final words were before he passed away in 1868!
"Wish I had time for just one more bowl of chili."
Hats Off to EMS
National First Responders Day was on Thursday, October, 28, 2021. It was established on October 28, 2017 by congress. God bless ALL first responders. You are saints in uniforms!
Non-Gendered Passports
In our what the heck department, we find that according to Newsmax, the United States has issued passports with an "X" gender designation and expects to be able to offer the option to nonbinary, intersex, and gender-nonconforming people early next year, the State Department said.
I guess when you go to get your passport, now, you should check your status before you go, just in case you are not sure. They may ask you to go to a special screening room.
As Yakov Smirnoff would say, "What a country"!
"You can go to another country, say Italy, but you cannot become Italian. You can go to France but you cannot become a Frenchman. But you come to America and you can become an American."
