Glasgow Middle School harriers close out season at Harlem Invitational

Glasgow Middle Schools cross country squad closed out the season with fast times and high places at the Harlem Invitational meet last Friday.

Both teams finished second to strong Havre squads, but Scottie runners brought home plenty of hardware and posted seven individual season records on the fast, flat course at Harlem’s golf course.

The Scottie boys tallied 80 team points, placing them behind Havre’s 30 points. The Glasgow middle schoolers were led by Garrett Thompson, who placed third with a new season record of 10:11 for the 1.55-mile course. Fellow Scottie Timothy Pearson placed 10th in 10:45, also a PR (personal record). Rounding out the squad, Rowen Kloker took 12th in 10:51, Alex Earll placed 27th in 13:39, and Aaron Mickelson took 28th place in 13:50. Both Earll and Mickelson set PRs.

On the girls side, eighth-grader Kimber Dulaney led from start to finish to win the individual title with a time of 10:07 for the 1.55-mile race. Also collecting medals for top-10 finishes were fellow eight-graders Josie Kemp, who took 6th place in 11:07, and Caylen Jankowski, 7th in 11:50.

Other Scottie girls were Rebekah Bailey, 15th in 12:39; Willow Sugg, 20th in 15:17; and Karsyn Sillerud, 21st in 15:47.

Glasgow’s girls team totaled 49 points, second to Havre, with 29 team points.

The Harlem meet closed out the season for the middle school runners, who participated in eight races this season, starting with Wolf Point Invitational in late August. Dulaney finished first for the girls squad in all eight races. Thompson led the boys team for seven of the eight races. Kloker finished ahead of his teammates at the home meet at Kiwanis Park.
