Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Well, apparently, the dust has settled at our small town North of Glasgow! Or has it?
Right after the not so secret military maneuvers at the old AFB, residents thought that the haven of abandoned buildings and former homes of military personnel back in the day, were over.
When what to our wondering eyes should appear between Ash and Locust streets, but Law Enforcement Vehicles from Phillips and Valley counties with a plus one from the Glasgow Police Department.
Several officers were in specialty gear near one of the buildings with an odd looking, semi-military style vehicle that had the word Cutter on the side.
We have seen these elite troops here before and at first glance it is a bit of a shock.
However, they appeared just after the military maneuvers.
'C’Mon man,' as Joe Biden would say, where are you, conspiracy theorists?
Mum is the Word
We asked resident Terry King and also Albertson’s meat manager, what he thought and he said that he has so many government people living around him that he is not talking!
The Coof
Covid-19 is making its rounds again with a few residents up here and in Glasgow in quarantine. We are hoping for the best so get well, soon!
Hope your taste and smell returns. Two weeks is a long time.
Quoting Lin Vargo “Once you’re over it, your NOT over it”!
Experience talking here. We have that T-shirt!
Even down in the Glasgow’s Irle elementary school they are closing for ‘understaffed” reasons. Or is it for health reasons?
Kinda like the atheist that died, “Got all dressed up and had no place to go”!
Into the Sunset
It is with sadness that we report that former Marine, Roger Ferguson has passed away. He was a member of my Chapter of the American Legion and was the man in charge of placing those white crosses on the highway to remind people that someone was killed on that spot. Those signs are an eye opener, for sure.
Roger passed away in bed at his home with the tv remote control in his hand!
Probably watching CNN!
Water Ice
Yep, your eyes were NOT deceiving you! That was SNOW on the ground (shudder) and the temperature was 29 degrees last evening (as of Oct. 14). Just signs of what is on the docket.
“Indian Summer,” or do we have to be politically correct on that too, is just around the corner and we will be reminding you to set your clocks either back or forward, we have trouble with that one ourselves.
Credit where it is due
I want to take the opportunity to compliment Mr. Steven Lazar, of Glasgow, who works at Albertson’s. Steven has been there for quite a while and is just a pleasure to talk with.
Well, kinda.
Steven is rather laconic and speaks softly but he always offers his assistance with your purchases. He has a kind smile and when he asks how you are doing today, he really cares how you are doing.
Thanks Steven. He put the word “Gentle” in gentleman!
