The Nashua Porcupines volleyball team added one to their win column last Thursday against Frazer. They then lost a match to the MonDak Thunder on Friday and dropped a match to Froid-Lake on Saturday.
Nashua defeated Frazer 25-13, 25-6, 25-8. The team had nine kills, four assists and 30 aces in their win. Tia Dees had three kills followed by Deja Morgan and Kaitlyn Miller with two each. Hadynn Adkins led the Porcupines in assists with two. Adkins also led the team in aces with 12. Keelyn Skolrud added five and Miller had four.
Head coach Janice Rorvik said of Nashua's match in Grenora against the MonDak Thunder, "We ended up losing a hard fought battle with them 3-2." The Porcupines forced the Thunder to all five sets in the match, but fell 26-24, 22-25, 9-25, 25-21, 10-15.
The team amassed 14 kills, 11 assists, 12 aces and 24 digs. Dees had eight kills and Morgan had three to lead Nashua. Miller had seven assists and Adkins added three. Miller had five aces to pace the Porcupines while Skolrud and Kyleigh Garsjo added two each. Adkins led the team in digs with six, followed closely by Garsjo and Morgan who added five each.
Saturday, the Porcupines made the journey to Froid to take on Froid-Lake. After three sets, Froid-Lake won the match 25-20, 25-9, 25-6. The team had five kills, four assists, eight aces and 14 digs.
Dees had two kills, while Miller, Morgan and Adkins added one a piece. Miller had two assists and Adkins and Garsjo added one each. Morgan had three aces and Adkins had two to lead Nashua. Alexis Murdock, Miller, Dees and Adkins each had three digs in the match.
Nashua is scheduled to host Savage on Friday, Oct. 15, for Senior Night at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, the Porcupines will travel to Lustre to take on the Lions with games scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, Nashua hosts the North Country Mavericks with games scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
