Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
MONTANA F.W.P.
GLASGOW — For years FWP staff have heard Montana’s hunting regulations are too complex. This year we’re taking a new approach with our hunting regulations to make them simpler. We are asking for your help.
FWP regional staff are holding virtual meetings across the state. These meetings are held via Zoom and allow the public to hear directly from FWP staff and ask questions about the proposed changes.
On Tuesday, Oct. 12, from 5:30-7 p.m., FWP Region 6 will hold a Zoom webinar open house to discuss the proposed changes in the Region and answer any questions.

Timeline on the draft changes
FWP biologists used their scientific expertise to find ways to reduce the number of hunting districts, simplify season structures and reduce the number of license and permit types, all with a focus on sound deer, elk, and in some cases other species, management. So, far they’ve used biology to guide the draft changes, but as part of the next step, we need your valuable input. The next drafts will be informed by your feedback.
Timeline —
• Sept. 21-Oct. 20:
The first round of public comment will be collected Sept. 21 through Oct. 20.
• Oct. 21-Dec. 13:
FWP biologists will adjust the changes based on your feedback and work with Director Hank Worsech and his staff to draft proposals for Fish and Wildlife Commission review.
Dec. 14: The Fish and Wildlife Commission will determine what proposals go forward for another 30-day public comment period.
Early February: The Fish and Wildlife Commission will adopt final regulations.
