'It's a Bird... It's a Plane... It's...'

Adventures in St. Marie

"If I knew you were comin' I'd 've baked a cake

Hired a band, goodness sake

If I knew you were comin' I'd 've baked a cake

How-ja do? How-ja do? How-ja do?"

1950's song!

Off da hook

Well, our phone answering machine jumped to life with semi-frightened residents asking us what was going on.

Well, we kinda knew but were not privy to releasing all the information to the public. We really wanted to, but upon returning the phone calls all we could do was reassure our callers that as far as we knew it was OK and it was NOT a remake of "Red Dawn," the movie.

However, it would have been nice to have received the heads up if only for the concerned citizens of our sleepy little burg!

Thanks goes out to MARCO for stopping by as we were taking photographs for The Courier and giving us the heads up that we were probably going to be contacted by the USAF's [Public Affairs Office], to review our 183 photographs.

That did not happen.

So far, here is what did happen.

People were saying "Look up in the sky, is that for real?"

Wait!

What was that jumping out of a perfectly good 'plane and helicopter? Little tiny men that looked like ants from our backyard and then their 'chutes opened up to look like little fluffs floating/drifting down to Boeing's backyard! USAF first, then the Army!

Hold up those smart phones and take those pictures to put on social media!

Well.... that is what some did while Boeing's guests were doing training. Their PHONO-graphs were out on the internet media as well as the Buzz while ours were waiting to be screened. Hmmmm!

Time has marched on and MARCO/Boeing's guests have packed up and gone.

Sure is quiet around here after 11 days of training and on off time, residents in Saint Marie could see military joggers running around our streets.

How do we know it was military personnel? C'mon. That's too easy, we do not see that many joggers in Saint Marie, if any at all.

Also we used the SWAG method (Scientific Wild Ass Guess) to determine that.

Estate Sale

Boy, there had been one large estate sale going on at Pine street, for about a week and we just had to stop in and check out what they had. Thank you Yancy and Kadence Stewart, Angie Smith, Peyton Hustad and her mom DeLee!

Nick DeGreek was there and gave us his perspective on the military activity. A sort of reminiscence was in his eyes as he was doing the same thing as the jumpers were in the not so distant past.

Nick has been out of the military, Army, for about 10 years now, but rest assured, this guy looks as if he could suit up and give it another go tomorrow. If they ever need a replacement for handsome actor Sam Elliott, Nick is the man!

Also, water Board meeting on Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. That is all.
