The Nashua Porcupines junior high harriers racked up a few miles this past week, taking part in the Scobey Cross Country Invite on Sept. 9 and the Sullivan Park Invite in Glasgow on Sept. 11. while Nashua High School senior Alyssa Murdock represented the Porcupines at the Scobey Invite, running a 30:38.1, finishing in 29th place.
The Nashua Junior High boys earned 75 points and finished in seventh place as a team in Scobey. Sixth-grader Joseph Youpee led the Porcupines placing 24th after running an 11:31.8 race. Jackson Abern, seventh-grader, finished in 30th with a time of 12:18.0. In 40th place was fifth-grader Max Stauser with a time of 15:28.8. Lucas Tatafu, sixth-grader, ran a 16:34.5 to finish in 44th place.
In Glasgow, Charles Kaasa, eighth-grader, and Youpe led the Porcupines, finishing in 16th place with a time of 11:29 and 17th place also with a time of 11:29. Abern finished in 23rd place with a time of 11:59 and Tatafu ran a 16:01 to take 35th place.
Alexus Ponder was the lone Porcupine girl to compete in Glasgow. The sixth-grader finished in 40th place after running a 17:43.
The Nashua Porcupines will be in Fort Peck at Kiwanis Park this Saturday, Sept. 18, for the Glasgow Invitational. The high school boys race at 10 a.m. followed by high school girls at 10:45 a.m. Junior high girls will race at 11:30 a.m. and junior high boys at noon.
