Adventures in St. Marie5
It's Latin. It translates into "Perhaps some day these things will be a pleasure to recall."
By the time that you read this, 9/11 will have passed and many Americans as well as people around the world will be reminiscing as to where they were on that day in infamy.
We know where we were and exactly what we were doing.
By the time the dust had settled in New York, 2,977 lives had been lost, and the "War on Terror" was being initiated by President George W. Bush.
It lasted basically for 20 years in Afghanistan, but I fear that it will continue for the US.
God rest those souls that were taken on that day in 2001.
Talk about luck!
Glasgow's Linda Rees, owner with her partner of many years at the "Mane Street Beauty Salon" located in Glasgow, and one of the pleasant gals over at Patty's Green house during the summer, was out enjoying her day kayaking when suddenly she ended up in the water fighting for her life.
Fortunately for Linda, she was wearing her PFD (Personal Floatation Device) and she says it saved her life. She was taken from the water and flown to Billings, for a three day hospital stay.
She is home now in Glasgow and has recovered from her ordeal.
Linda said just a few minutes ago that she is doing well and getting stronger every day. Lucky for her and us, her many friends who enjoy her being with us!
She is a grand lady and also a Veteran!
Wow, talk about luck again!
Cindee Parker of Glasgow decided to go with her father, Navy and Vietnam veteran, Paul Van Meter, up North to St. Marie, and visited the former Glasgow AFB's Base Pond.
Well proud papa Paul tells us that she caught her first rainbow trout ever and it was a whopper. All told, before the day was finished, that was not the only Rainbow caught that day because she had taken two of them!
Good on you, Cindee!
Paul himself had hooked into a very large Northern Pike at the pond, but even with the 15 pound test fishing line, it broke free.
I asked Paul what he was using for bait and he laughed and said that he is not telling his secrets.
He said that they had the trout for breakfast the next day with eggs.
Grandparents Day
Well on Friday the 10th, Irle Elementary school had their "Grandparents Day" and their annual Book Fair.
The Grandparents and parents and friends of the children were invited to the school to be with the kids.
This event is an affair where the kids get to show off their family to their favorite teachers and also buy some pretty neat books.
After we entered the school, thinking of our stomach's, headed straight for the cookies.
You see we have worn this tee shirt before.
