We Sell Almost Anything!

Adventures in St. Marie

There has been a request for information on the Saint Marie Co-op Thrift & Consignment Shop, which is located at 715 6th Street.

And by the way, the thrift store is doing very well including having some Boeing customers coming into the store.

For those who are not from Saint Marie or those not too familiar with our address system out here, which can be confusing at times, the thrift store is just past Town Hall. There is a sign out front.

When you come into Saint Marie from Highway 24, you are on 5th street, stay on 5th almost all the way until you get to Avenue F, turn right.

Stay on Ave. F until you are by the Fire station and turn left on 6th.

Go past Town Hall and there will be a building on the right hand side.

The thrift store hours are Thursday-Friday 1-4 p.m., and Saturday from 1-6 p.m.

Lindsay Davis, the Manager, said “we sell almost anything!”

They have furniture, housewares, decorations, dishes and lots of clothing, coats, baby items and lots more!

They also have concessions available such as candy, chips, soda and ice cream.

Lindsay did say they are planning to move to 363 Country Club. But, at the moment, are not sure if it is large enough to house their store.

The Thrift Store is managed by the St Marie Co-Op. The Co-Op and Thrift Store are 100% volunteer run.

They are working to open a convenience store, hopefully by this winter, and eventually a coffee shop/bakery, Davis said.

Lowering the Flag

A week ago, we took our grandson to Fort Buford, which is about 22 miles from Williston.

If you have never been there, this is a wonderful historical place to check out.

Joseph Garcia is the North Dakota Historical Society Site Supervisor at Fort Buford and has the uncanny ability to recreate replica items from that time in our history.

Debbie Crossland is the Assistant Site Supervisor, and, along with Joseph Garcia, they are a wealth of historical information.

At one time Fort Buford had over 100 buildings on the site.

Not only did Lewis & Clark pass through this area where the Missouri-Yellowstone confluence comes together, but also did the Indian Wars in the 1870’s.

On July 20, 1881, the great Hunkpapa Lakota Chief Sitting Bull surrendered at Fort Buford.

The Fort has many interesting activities throughout the year and we will start putting some of those into this column.

The lowering of the flag ceremony will commence this coming Labor Day.

By the Way

If you are in Hinsdale, stop in at the Pot Luck Café on Highway 2.

Our family decided to go for a ride and stopped in for a bite to eat.

It is all home cooking, hot and ready to eat.

They are open Thursday thru Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
