Adventures in St. Marie
A big thank you to our kind readers, both of you, who suggested that we give it a go again.
Hence we met with the new editor of the Courier, Mister Chris McDaniel, and found him to be most congenial and a good find in the newspaper industry.
He will do Glasgow a great service. Good on him.
Water, water, everywhere
...except on the west end of Ash street in St. Marie.
You just don't know how important water is until you don't have it.
Those of us who live on this street have been without water for almost eight days except for the kind actions of Water District manager Rob Esaias, who has been turning on the water for a short length of time to allow those of us to water our sun-baked plants and yards and to fill our water containers.
The break is at a depth of about 20-feet and is at a good rate of flow.
The backhoe has been at idle since it has been difficult to obtain parts for the pipes due to the past holiday.
Rob is having a tough time of it and is a bit frustrated but having known Rob for many years, residents can rest assured that he will do his utmost best to rectify the situation.
We managed to visit the site and it is, as usual, with the history of water main breaks in St. Marie, a mess.
Please give the workers and equipment a wide berth so as to not impede their repair work. It is very hot out there and Rob is working with a limited crew.
Thank you.
Marylou Remington at it Again
Out of the kindness of her heart, our wonderful Postal Lady is trying to beautify St. Marie as she attempted previously about two years ago, B.C. (Before Covid).
She has been placing items of the old days here and there on 5th Avenue that make the entrance roadway to St. Marie more presentable.
Two years ago several items she put out on display were stolen. Hopefully it will not happen again this year.
Sheriff Tom Boyer was contacted about the theft and a couple of the bikes were returned
Fortunately, now there is a strong law enforcement show of force present in our small community.
Thanks, Sheriff Boyer. When re-election time appears I just may NOT run against him. Just kidding!
Marylou explained she just wanted to put a smile on residents' faces as they passed by the beautiful and whimsical displays.
She stated that, as an example, some of the older residents who have gone through so much with spouse's going through cancer treatments in town or those who have lost family members might smile and take them away from their troubles, even for a moment.
God Bless this kind lady. She is a good one!
Land Yachts
The city of Glasgow decided, without notice to Shady Rest RV Park, to flush out their fire hydrants at about noon causing flooding in some of the RV sites and a quick evacuation of some guests from their expensive land yachts.
Cody and Greg Pederson, owners of the Shady Rest Park (our daughter and son in law) tried to phone the water department, but did not get a response and with great concern for their guests, immediately drove over to the office to find out what was happening to their park.
They were it was due to the flushing of the hydrants. Flooding happens in the RV Park quite a lot when heavy rain hits the area and runoff comes down the hill in back of Shady Rest and dumps water into the recreational vehicle spots.
OK, we shall leave you and hope that you enjoy the summer and remember our pets. They rely on us to protect them! Keep them out of the heat.
