The Valley County Sheriff's Office DUI Task Force in cooperation with the Glasgow Police Department offered for the first time a county wide scholarship to seniors for the 2020/2021 school year.
All seniors in all Valley County schools were provided an opportunity to write a minimum 500-word essay on what it means to 'live above the influence' and being a peer role model in the community. We received four applicants for the $500 scholarship. Three scholarships essays were received from Glasgow High School and the fourth was from Luster Christian School. At the last task force meeting the essays were read and a winner was chosen. During the meeting a decision was made to provide an additional scholarship in the amount of $200.00 for a runner-up essay.
We would like to congratulate Aubrey Hartsock for her essay which received the $500.00 scholarship award as well as Shanice Lagerquist for her essay receiving the $200.00 award.
The DUI Task Force would like to thank all four participants for taking the time to write an essay and we look forward to offering this scholarship in 2022. Congratulations seniors! We hope you continue to live above the influence and wish you success in your future endeavors.
