Firefighters Douse Brush Fire Threatening Glasgow Neighborhood

Blaze Consumed Less than One-Acre Before Being Extinguished

A brushfire threatening a Glasgow neighborhood was extinguished Monday evening before any structures were damaged.

The fire, located in the coulee in Northern Heights, also known as Honda Hills, was reported to emergency dispatch at 7:54 p.m. About a dozen firefighters with the Glasgow Fire Department and the Long Run Fire Department responded to the blaze. The firefighters were joined by Glasgow Police Corporal Joshua Nolan and Valley County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Joseph Tihlarik. One engine and four wildland rigs were on scene.

Upon arrival, emergency responders discerved the blaze had engulfed less than one-acre of wildland, said Glasgow Fire Department Chief Brandon Brunelle.

"Full containment took about 12-minutes. We knocked down the fire within five minutes of arrival."

Firefighters extinguished the blaze with water and a foaming agent, Brunelle said.

Firefighters stayed on scene following the blaze for a brief period to ensure there were no flareups, Brunelle said.

"Thanks to all the agencies for responsding. Everybody works really well together. It is nice."

Responding firefighters included Adam Arneson, Kent Murr, Dillon Koski, Jeron Wesen, John Britzman, Josh Thompson, Brandeon Brunelle, Dustin Brunelle and Ryan Budde.

The cause of the fire, which is considered as suspicious, remains under investigation.
