Betty J. Lund

Betty J. Lund, 86 born in Glasgow ,MT passed away February 25, 2021 at her home in Frenchtown Mt with her family gathered around her providing her with love and support. Betty spent most of her life around the Fort Peck, Glasgow and Nashua. Betty lived her last years in Frenchtown MT at the home of her youngest daughter Tammie and her husband Dwayne Smith and with her belated husband Tom who passed away May 14, 2019, whom she greatly loved and missed.

Betty, was born November 5, 1934 in Glasgow MT to Henry Sand and Ruth (Maas) Sand. Betty's siblings are: Sylvia DeLoach (Skip, deceased); Herb Sand (Linda); Debi Furhman (Greg); Mary Guttenberg (Mike) and many wonderful nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews which she loved and praised so much. She was proud of all of them.

January 15, 1955 Betty married the man of her dreams. She told the story often about how he saw her driving a tractor for her dad and she was so dirty all he could see was the whites of her eyes. They showed up asking to see if Sylvia could babysit for one of his friends. Later he asked her out on a date. (I guess he liked the looks of a hard-working woman). Betty worked for her Aunt Doris Maas at Mountain Bell Telephone Office until they closed their office in Glasgow. She took an early retirement. The first thing they did after she retired was take a trip to South Carolina to visit her sister Sylvia and her husband Skip and their family. Betty is survived by her children: Jack Lund (Pearl); Gwen Tvedt (Steve); Stacey O'Tremba (Randy); Ruth Young; Tammie Lund-Smith (Dwayne) and all of Betty's siblings. Betty is preceded in death by her beloved husband Tom and their son Darrel Gene Lund (1955).

Grandchildren-Great Grandchildren: Scott Lund (Debbie-Maggie, Kylie); Shanda Adams (Erik-Meghan, Kaylah, Naleah, Loghyn, Brett); Adam Tvedt ( Melissa – Adison, Abigail); Lukas (Mandy – Miles, Nolan, Wyatt); Amanda Oster (Joe-Sophia, Isaiah); Jamie Bucher (Scott – Dylan, Josiah, Brynn); Ashley O'Tremba (Sam Catlett); Mike Young; Savannah Young (- Jorden); Johnathan Fagan (Shannon -John, Jr.); Patrick Fagan (Krystal and Atreus); Samantha Hallenberg (Joseph-Adelyn and Anika); Kelli Cooper (Kyle and Harper); Kami Smith(Nick-Wesson and Corbin); Jacob Smith; Brenden Smith;

Betty loved her family, she loved to watch her grandchildren play sports, participate in music or any of their endeavors. She was known as the baby whisperer. She was so proud of all her children and grandchildren. She beamed whenever she saw them or talked to them. Her favorite things to do in her younger years was to bake for people, from bread to caramel rolls to meals. She also loved to Garden. As she gradually got older she still loved flowers and fresh fruits and vegetables. She didn't make homemade bread as often but she definitely enjoyed going out for coffee and caramel rolls.

After Betty and Tom moved in with their youngest daughter and her husband Dwayne she actively helped her granddaughter Samantha Hallenberg take care of her great grandbabies. Her greatest joy became crocheting, reading, babysitting, and folding clothes. Some of her famous sayings were: "the best meals are the ones I don't have to cook" When asked if she got enough to eat, her response was, "I got great plenty."

Betty was always praying for someone, she wanted everyone to have the best life and always was concerned for their health.

Betty's memorial will be held on July 3rd at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Church, 152 Aberdeen Street, Glasgow, MT. There will be a Reception immediately after. Following the Reception, Betty and Tom's Cremains will be buried together in the Fort Peck Cemetery for anyone wanting to join the family.
