With Top Ten Track, The Fourth Is

Stars Show Up On Star Wars Day

Glasgow played host to the annual Top Ten Track and Field meet on Star Wars day and the Fourth proved to be with Valley County athletes. Local stars turned in 12 personal records and 19 podium appearances in competition against regional athletes.

Hinsdale's Kaitlyn McColly did not disappoint fans, racking up four first places, one second place finish and two personal records. Her teammate Loden Idler claimed two first places, a second place finish and two personal records.

"Top Ten was a meet our kids looked forward to competing against the top athletes in this part of the state," said Hinsdale head coach Taylor Olson. "We ended up having five athletes qualify in 18 events. Four of five athletes made the podium and got medals. Our fifth competitor was a freshman [Zora Holt] who we are so proud of, qualifying for the Top 10 in her first year."

Glasgow's Iris McKean earned a personal record and a first place finish in the 3200 meters. The Scottie distance runner knocked 11 seconds off her time to finish in under 12 minutes. Stephen Bailey once again claimed the top spot in the pole vault.

In the sprints, Idler claimed a first place finish in the boys' 100 meter run with a time of 11.52 while Glasgow's Blaire Westby finished the girls' 100m in 13.53 for fourth place. Idler also notched a second place in the 200m, as well as a personal record, with his time of 23.39, placing behind Havre's Nolan Lotton. Idler's teammate Jess Lee ran the race in 24.04 for sixth place. Lee set a personal record in the 400m with at time of 52.94 and took third place. Lustre's Jasiah Hambira also set a personal record in the race, taking sixth place with his time of 54.74.

Carl Zabrocki made an appearance on the podium in boys' distance events. The Scottie senior set a personal record in the 3200m and finished in fourth place with a time of 10:47.49. Fellow Scottie Lane Thompson placed seventh in the fun and set his own record with a time of 11:00.30. Dalton Sand, Glasgow, set a personal record in the 1600m, finishing in 4:54.57 and fifth place. Opheim's Cole Taylor, as a member of the Scobey Spartans, set a personal record in the same race and took eighth place with his time of 5:02.29. Glasgow's Reed Larsen ran the 800m in 2:12.51, a personal record, and finished in eighth.

On the girls' side, Scottie McKean ran the 3200m in 11:59.30, a personal record, to take first place. Teammate Emily See also set a personal record in the 3200m and claimed third place, finishing in 12:13.42. Hinsdale's Zora Holt finished in 10th place with her time of 14:08.15.

Glasgow freshman Tatum Hansen notched a second place finish and a personal record in the 110m hurdles, finishing in 17.18. Hinsdale's Trey Johnson was right behind in him in fourth place with his personal record of 17.38. Glasgow's Fynn Sukut also set a personal record, finishing in 18.02 and sixth place. Hansen ran the 300m hurdles in 43.55, a personal record and a fifth-place finish, while Sukut set a season record and finished in seventh with a time of 46.76.

Hinsdale's McColly won both girls' hurdle events, winning the 100m in 15.20, more than a second-and-a-half ahead of her nearest competition, and the 300m hurdles in 47.41, nearly a half-second ahead of her competition.

The Glasgow girls' 4x100 relay team of Westby, Samantha Tryan, Tyann Graham and He'lena Stulc placed fourth with their time of 54.21. Stulc, McKean, See and Ava Lloyd teamed up for the 4x400 relay team and finished seventh with a time of 4:37.21. The Scottie boys' 4x400 team took sixth place when Blake Lloyd, Larsen, Sand and Hansen finished in 3:51.07. Opheim's Cole Taylor helped the Scobey Spartans 4x400 team finish in fourth place with a time of 3:46.62.

In boys' throwing events, Hinsdale's Lee took seventh in the shot put with a throw of 42-10.50 and Glasgow's Bergen Miller placed eighth in the discus with a throw of 124-05. For the girls, Lustre's Tiara Whitmus placed eighth in shot put with a throw of 32-05, while Nashua freshman Tia Dees placed 10th with a throw of 30-10. Dees placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 96-11, while her teammate Devin Fromdahl finished just ahead of her in fifth place with a personal best throw of 97-04. Whitmus came in seventh with a throw of 95-11 and Opheim's Carrie Taylor, on Scobey's team, threw the discus 88-05 and finished 10th. Taylor took a seventh place finish in the javelin with a throw of 95-02.

Glasgow's Bailey cleared 12-06 in the pole vault to claim first place as his teammate Ted Tryan set a personal record at 11-06 and finished in fourth place. Hinsdale's Idler cleared 11-00 and took sixth place. In the girls' competition, McColly cleared 10-06, setting a personal record and finishing in second place. Scotties Graham and Kira Beck cleared 8-00 and 7-06 respectively, with Graham finishing in a tie for eighth place and Beck in 10th place.

Hinsdale swept first places in the long jump. Idler took the boys' competition with a personal best jump of 19-10 and McColly claimed the top spot in the girls event with a jump of 16-07.50. Lustre's Hambira took seventh in the boys' long jump with a distance of 18-00, while taking ninth in the triple jump at 37-05.50. Opheim's Bo Anderson, competing in the Scobey Spartans uniform, placed eighth with a jump of 37-09. McColly claimed another first place, taking the top slot in the girls' triple jump. She set a personal record with a leap of 34-04.50.

All teams will be back in Wolf Point this Saturday, May 15, with events beginning at 9 a.m.
