Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Lyanna Rae Van Sickle, Minot, ND, 9-month-old infant daughter of RaeLynn Arnold and Edward Van Sickle, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021, Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Lyanna Rae was born July 30, 2020, at Trinity Hospital in Minot to two very nervous and excited first time parents.
Unfortunately, Lyanna was born with a heart defect and had to be flown to Minneapolis, MN. She spent the first two months of her life there and made it through open heart surgery and many other procedures and tests. Lyanna pulled through many different setbacks. One of her caretakers said, "Do not underestimate her because she keeps surprising you." One of the first things people noticed about Lyanna was her gorgeous long eyelashes earning her the nickname "Lashes". In late September the family of three were more than excited to be returning home. Life was busy but wonderful settling into her new home. In November, we were devastated when Lyanna had to return to Minneapolis for emergency open heart surgery. She proved her tenacity once again and returned home less than two weeks later. Through everything, Lyanna remained a bright vivacious child. Everyone that met her loved her instantly. Family that only knew her through pictures and videos loved her just as much.
She loved to laugh at her puppy, Gemma, and play with her ears. Gemma loved her little sister and was patient even when Lyanna pulled too hard. Lyanna loved to babble and would have conversations with her purple monkey or the other baby in the mirror. She played with her crinkly elephant relentlessly and screamed with delight when you handed him to her. Lyanna was always moving whether she was dancing or exploring with her hands. If there was anything within reach of her feet you best believe she was kicking it. Lyanna was very curious and attentive. Whether it was a toy or face she was studying, it had her full attention. Her little laugh captivated you and left you wanting more. Even though her life was short, she touched many lives and left a lasting impression that will last a lifetime.
Psalm 147:3 - He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds.
