Raider Girls Place Eighth
The Hinsdale Raiders traveled to Havre on Saturday, April 10 to compete in the Havre Lions Meet. "It was a windy day, but perfect competition for the team," Head coach Taylor Olson said. The Hinsdale boys came out in sixth place, amassing 36 points, behind Fort Benton, 131; Fergus, 61; Havre, 55.5, Malta, 47 and Hobson-Moore-Judith Gap, 39. Jesse Lee claimed the only first-place finish for the boys, clearing 6' in the high jump.
The Hinsdale girls placed eighth, earning 30.5 points on the day. Fergus placed first with 69.5, followed by Fort Benton, 65.5; Whitewater, 47; Conrad, 42.67; Havre, 41.5; Saco, 38 and Malta, 35.
"We had athletes PR in every event except for the 400 and 800," Olson said. For the girls, Kaitlyn McColly broke a school record and taking first place in the 100-meter hurdles, running the race in 14.9 seconds. She won the race by 1.4 seconds. She also placed first in the pole vault, clearing 9'6.
Olson was pleased with his team and their desire to compete, though noted the timing system for the meet was down, which prevented some of his athletes from qualifying for state. The Raiders had four marks that would have qualified had the system been working. Despite the disappointment, Olson said, "We are excited to keep seeing progress and watching these athletes compete!"
The Hinsdale Raiders will next be competing in Fairview, Friday, April 16.
