Scottie Track & Field Looking to Get Back to it in 2021

Of course we are very excited to be back at for track and field this spring, after missing 2020. We’re disappointed we had some upper classmen that didn’t come out - they could have helped our teams a lot! But we are just SO excited by the athletes who are here! We have very young teams, but they are also eager to learn and have been a joy to coach over the last few weeks!

Our returning seniors this year include Carl Zabrocki in the distance events, Sam Rodgriguez in the throws and Colter Cumber in the sprints and vault. Our lone senior for the girls, Riley Noser, just had ACL surgery so she won’t be able to compete. We feel badly for her missed opportunity as an athlete but look very much forward to her wisdom in helping us coach the throws. And, we know she is going to go on to do great things in college after she recovers!

I’m excited to see how our teams progress through the season. We know we won’t be at 100% by our meet this Thursday but are looking forward to all the athletes getting some meet experience. And I’ve got a great staff to help us get there:

Wade Nelson, throws

Kirk Capdeville, pole vault

Pat Menge, jumps

Andrew McKean, distance

Lori Westby, hurdles

Sarah Schmidt, volunteer assistant, throws

Gary Wageman, volunteer assistant, pole vault

Hope to see everybody at the meet this Thursday: field events start at 9 a.m. We’ll be in Havre for the Cal Wearley Invitational next Wednesday.
