Highlanders Make It Look Easy

The Glasgow Wrestling Club made the trek to Kalispell for the 2021 State AAU Tournament this past weekend and brought home hardware. The boys team took top spot in the medium team division while the girls claimed second place, coming in a mere half point behind the Silver Bow Wrestling Club out of Butte. The boys competed against 70 other teams while the girls hit the mats against 49 other clubs.

Glasgow beat their own club record, bringing home eight individual State Champions. The previous record of seven champions was set in both 2019 and 1992. Three state champions were named after the first session on March 20. Tate Lehner won the 40 lb. Boys Bantam, Rygan Gamas won 50 lb. Girls Tot and Lyla Lehner won 55 lb. Girls Bantam.

The next day, Glasgow added five more champions to their ranks. Saunten Gamas took the Midget Boys 75 division and Jaxson Kemp took the Midget Boys 120 class. In the Novice Boys, Jack Morehouse won the 80 lb. Class and Leo Erickson took first place in the heavyweight class. Khye Gamas won the Schoolboy 120 class.

Overall, the Highlanders placed 24 wrestlers on the podium this weekend, out of 32 wrestlers who attended the event.
