Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Dear Editor,
Eugene's Pizza was a part of my growing up in Valley County. It was where we went to celebrate, a place to hang out with friends, and a place that was unique in our vast state. When I moved away, it was the one food I always wanted when I came home for visits. It is nostalgic and the food and service were always excellent. That all changed this weekend. As usual, when I knew I was coming home for the holidays I spoke to my parents about picking up Eugene's on my way through Glasgow. When I went in to pick up my pizza, I was horrified that not a single employee was wearing a mask.
We are in the midst of a pandemic when all signs say that mask wearing is an easy way to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and even strangers from suffering from this virus. I don't even care what your politics are or your views on masks. Our Governor issued a mandate to wear masks, and Eugene's is not following it. I can understand if customers don't wear a mask, but a business has a legal and moral obligation to help keep people safe.
It makes me extremely sad that I will never spend money in this business again, because I know now that the owners don't care about their employees, their customers, or the people of Valley County enough to even put a basic, easy precaution in place. I am beyond disappointed with the complete disregard for public safety and health shown by Eugene's Pizza and I sincerely hope that no patrons of this business become sick and put additional strain on our healthcare system in this state.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Turchin
