Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Dear Editor,
Indecisive? Shooting from the hip? NO, ALL was planned 2 years ago.
When we came into this mess, we looked at what WAS and what NEEDED to be done- "FIAT." ...Latin- "Let it be done." A Review Decree with authorization with the Board Directors of NVCW/S District to spot trends and investigate past actions, both good and bad. Set priorities/ identify non-essential spending.
What improvements were needed? Audit the books, evaluate the systems.
Spend the money necessary to hire the brightest best qualified people. We have a full-time certified water/sewer Operator and CPA type Office Mgr.
Build a strong experienced Board of Directors. We now have three directors with corporate business/management background, two attorney directors.
Spend the Reserves to fix old hanging repairs with liability issues.
Spend money needed to secure needed grants to repair and replace 60+ years old AC water lines.... TSEP, CDBG and other grants.
Water – life necessity...drinking, cooking, bathing, removing waste/dung.
Stay in COMPLIANCE with various Government Agencies- Water testing, maintain water/sewer lines, water tower, sewer pumps/lagoons, backhoe.
GOAL- Create a functionally/financially sustainable operation.
PLAN an economic recovery to pay bills and replenish Reserve Funds.
Listen to old dudes, kin, experienced folks, staff, customers for input.
KEEP THE CUSTOMERS, PUBLIC, AND COMMISSIONERS INFORMED.
Indecisive, overspending, mismanagement, not honest or ethical? HEAVENS NO! Our meetings/ office is OPEN to all, will SHOW records, ANSWER all questions.
Now Folks, you know the rest of the story!
Sincerely,
Nick Chiechi – Resident and President, NVCW/S District
St. Marie, Mont.
